This is the latest shift Kaine has made, as abortion advocates <a href=\"\/news\/despite-his-pro-abortion-voting-record-activists-are-still-angry-about-clinton-vp-pick-tim-kaine\/\">continue to complain<\/a> that his past is too mixed on the issue.<!--more-->Kaine supported some incremental pro-life measures as governor, such as parental notification and banning partial-birth abortion. But he ran for Senate <a href=\"\/news\/democrats-for-life-of-america-endorses-candidate-who-will-oppose-efforts-to-weaken-roe\/\">vowing to protect<\/a> <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>, and once there, established a <a href=\"\/news\/potential-vp-pick-tim-kaine-personally-opposed-abortion-yet-100-percent-voting-record-naral\/\">100\u00a0percent\u00a0pro-abortion voting record<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After joining Clinton&#8217;s ticket, Kaine <a href=\"\/news\/potential-clinton-vp-pick-tim-kaine-im-very-strongly-for-abortion\/\">declared<\/a>\u00a0he was &#8220;very strongly supportive&#8221; of the &#8220;right&#8221; to abortion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust 20 days ago, Senator Kaine said he supported the Hyde Amendment, which stops taxpayers from funding abortion on-demand,\u201d Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba-list.org\/newsroom\/press-releases\/kaine-flip-flops-on-taxpayer-funding-of-abortion\">said<\/a> in response to his latest reversal. \u201cWhat has changed?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Democratic Party has become so bound to the abortion industry that there is no room for conscience,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;Before he could be considered fit for the role of VP to Hillary Clinton, Sen. Kaine had to divest himself of even the appearance of moderation on the abortion issue.
