But Doug and Jamie Otis\u00a0Hehner&#8217;s\u00a0joy soon turned to tragedy, as Jamie miscarried their son at 17 weeks. Now, they&#8217;re going public with the decision to give their son a name.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-98244\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/hehner-baby-miscarriage.jpg\" alt=\"hehner-baby-miscarriage\" width=\"921\" height=\"553\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/hehner-baby-miscarriage.jpg 921w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/hehner-baby-miscarriage-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/hehner-baby-miscarriage-768x461.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/hehner-baby-miscarriage-700x420.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 921px) 100vw, 921px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Otis shares about the experience on her <a href=\"https:\/\/jamieotis.com\/2016\/07\/losing-baby-hehner\/\">blog<\/a>, saying that for her, &#8220;writing is therapy.&#8221; She writes of the shock and disbelief at losing\u00a0their son:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">I\u00a0had been bleeding for a few weeks prior, but every time we checked the baby (which was becoming twice a week by now) the little one was kicking, moving, and the heartbeat was going strong&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;\u00a0I was literally on Facebook planning our gender reveal party\u2026Until the doctor flat out said \u201cThe prognosis is very poor and there is\u00a0<em>nothing<\/em>\u00a0you can do to help it. You have very little amniotic fluid for the baby.\u201d I\u2019m a nurse so I know how important amniotic fluid is for growth and development, but I just couldn\u2019t believe my ears.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">How could the prognosis be so \u201cpoor\u201d when I had just seen our baby\u2019s feet kicking and his little body bouncing around in my belly less than a week before&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">I\u2019ll never get to see this Angel again on earth. He was given to us so graciously by God, and then God took him away way too early. My heart hurts so bad. Losing our baby has been the most terrible experience. I wish no one would ever have to endure this.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FjamieNotis%2Fposts%2F1226621244016149&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"665\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The couple has named their son\u00a0Johnathan Edward Hehner. Independent Journal Review <a href=\"http:\/\/ijr.com\/2016\/07\/654308-married-at-first-sight-couple-names-their-baby-after-devastating-second-trimester-miscarriage\/?utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=owned&amp;utm_campaign=ods&amp;utm_term=ijamerica&amp;utm_content=parenting\">reports<\/a> that &#8220;[t]he couple chose the name Johnathan for its special meaning\u2014 &#8216;gift from God.&#8217; Edward is Doug\u2019s middle name after his grandfather.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FjamieNotis%2Fposts%2F1232770313401242&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"627\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Since the miscarriage, Jamie <a href=\"https:\/\/jamieotis.com\/2016\/07\/aching-inside\/\">continues to write<\/a> on her blog about the daily pain she is experiencing from the loss of her baby boy:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Today marks what should be a milestone for my angel, Johnathan Edward. We should be 19 weeks along today&#8230;. It tears me up inside that my little boy should be 19 weeks today. And it doesn\u2019t help that I got an email update from a pregnancy app telling me all about the milestones he\u2019d be making this week. (I had immediately deleted all the apps I followed so this wouldn\u2019t happen.) And ya know what, I almost don\u2019t mind that I am getting the email updates still. I don\u2019t want to forget him.
