But pediatrician\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vivo.health.unm.edu\/display\/n4653#Ohls\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/vivo.health.unm.edu\/display\/n4653%23Ohls&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1469762561958000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEo7GUse4b6WovtcJVpFFvEy6qKSA\">Robin Ohls<\/a>\u00a0claims to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/science\/2016\/apr\/01\/congress-subpoenas-fetal-tissue-research-abortion\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/science\/2016\/apr\/01\/congress-subpoenas-fetal-tissue-research-abortion&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1469762561958000&amp;usg=AFQjCNG3mwo00MFiBJF0huI73LMOTTt72g\">&#8220;improve the lives of premature babies&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0by researching on the\u00a0brains and lungs of\u00a0their aborted sisters and brothers. Ohls runs the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150921005625\/http:\/\/pediatrics.unm.edu\/divisions\/neonatology\/labs1\/dreamlab\/contact.html\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150921005625\/http:\/\/pediatrics.unm.edu\/divisions\/neonatology\/labs1\/dreamlab\/contact.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1469762561958000&amp;usg=AFQjCNH1k3ntYDLh0zYT7sImUN3PvuN0RA\">DREAM Lab<\/a>\u00a0at the University of New Mexico (UNM) \u2013 but it might be more aptly named the &#8220;Nightmare Lab.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Recent <a href=\"https:\/\/energycommerce.house.gov\/sites\/republicans.energycommerce.house.gov\/files\/documents\/114\/letters\/unm-referral.pdf\">documents from the House Select Panel on Infant Lives<\/a> revealed that<a href=\"\/news\/abortion-clinic-provided-whole-brains-for-summer-camp\/\">\u00a0whole, late-term fetal brains had been acquired for dissection in a summer camp program<\/a>. The documents did not reveal the names of the researcher behind this or other programs, with the Panel&#8217;s written report using the name\u00a0\u201cResearcher #1&#8243; or no name at all. &#8220;Researcher #1&#8221;\u00a0&#8211; according to the list of referenced studies\u00a0&#8211; is Robin Ohls, working in conjunction with other researchers in the DREAM Lab.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Panel specifically wrote that the &#8220;Researcher with the DREAM Lab appears to have conducted most of the research using aborted infant tissue.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While the Panel documents redacted the names, it left this list of references (<a href=\"https:\/\/energycommerce.house.gov\/sites\/republicans.energycommerce.house.gov\/files\/documents\/114\/letters\/unm-referral.pdf\">page 222<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/news\/nightmare-lab-university-pediatrician-builds-career-baby-parts-research\/screen-shot-2016-06-28-at-4-05-11-pm-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-96922\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-96922\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-06-28-at-4.05.11-PM-1-700x313.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-06-28 at 4.05.11 PM\" width=\"1096\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-06-28-at-4.05.11-PM-1-700x313.png 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-06-28-at-4.05.11-PM-1-300x134.png 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-06-28-at-4.05.11-PM-1-768x344.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1096px) 100vw, 1096px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The references\u00a0cross list\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/?term=robin+ohls\">with Ohls\u2019 PubMed bibliography<\/a> where, within Ohls&#8217;\u00a067 listed research articles, is every cited article by the Panel.<\/p>\n<p>Ohls has an impressive research resume, but the cost of acquiring her myriad publishing credits is lives. This reality has been affirmed by the New Mexico Alliance for Life (NMAFL).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/news\/late-term-abortionist-harvests-baby-body-parts-within-minutes-for-university-new-mexico\/\">As Live Action reported earlier this year<\/a>, NMAFL suspected that fetal parts harvested by late-term abortionist, Curtis Boyd, were then given to Ohls to produce <a href=\"http:\/\/repository.unm.edu\/bitstream\/handle\/1928\/6891\/Vender%20Final%20Paper.pdf?sequence=1&amp;isAllowed=y\">this study<\/a>. From abortion to organ harvesting, a grand total of 15 minutes elapsed.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_96918\" style=\"width: 484px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmallianceforlife.org\/research-study.html\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-96918\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-96918\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-96918 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/unnamed-700x241.png\" alt=\"unnamed\" width=\"474\" height=\"163\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/unnamed-700x241.png 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/unnamed-300x103.png 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/unnamed-768x265.png 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/unnamed.png 789w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-96918\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: UNM study authored by Vender, McConaghy, and Ohls.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Elisa Martinez, executive director of New Mexico Alliance for Life <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmallianceforlife.org\/news\/-bombshell-unm-harvests-baby-body-parts-within-minutes-of-late-term-abortions\">said in January<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\" align=\"left\">This leaves many alarming questions concerning how notorious late-term abortionist Curtis Boyd, still serves as a UNM\u00a0 \u201cassistant professor,\u201d abortionist and tissue collection facilitator. <strong>The total disregard for human life illustrated in this UNM\u00a0Department of Pediatrics research study by Dr. Robin\u00a0Ohls\u00a0and team is both sickening and horrifying.<\/strong> Death row inmates are treated with greater respect and dignity than these innocent, unborn babies.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Boyd is currently still listed, as of 6\/28\/16,\u00a0as Clinical Assistant Professor at UNM.<\/p>\n<p>However, Boyd does not possess<a href=\"\/news\/unm-keeps-non-credentialed-late-term-abortionist-on-staff-pays-malpractice-insurance\/\"> board certification in obstetrics<\/a>, which is a violation of UNM&#8217;s own policy for professors in its medical school. Boyd&#8217;s abortion facility furnishes Ohls and her UNM colleagues with fetal tissue for the many research studies conducted there. Ironically called the DREAM Lab, the purpose of the lab is <a href=\"http:\/\/pediatrics.unm.edu\/divisions\/neonatology\/research\/dreamlab\/index.html\">stated on its website<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The basic science research performed in our laboratory focuses on developmental regulation of erythropoietin [a hormone secreted by the kidneys that increases the rate of production of red blood cells in response to falling levels of oxygen in the tissues] gene expression in the <strong>human fetus,<\/strong> as a model for evaluating the impact of preterm birth on changes in gene expression.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That\u00a0seems like\u00a0fancy language for saying, \u201cWe use lots of fetal tissue from babies that were killed all the way into the third trimester at Curtis Boyd\u2019s clinic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While UNM claims that no money exchanges hands, the <a href=\"\/news\/how-a-public-university-and-late-term-abortion-clinic-worked-together-to-aggressively-expand-abortion\/\">Panel\u00a0e<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/energycommerce.house.gov\/sites\/republicans.energycommerce.house.gov\/files\/documents\/114\/letters\/unm-referral.pdf\">xplains<\/a>\u00a0what it calls &#8220;violations of law committed by the University of New Mexico and Southwestern Women&#8217;s Options&#8221; in relation to the fetal donations and exchange of services (<a href=\"https:\/\/energycommerce.house.gov\/sites\/republicans.energycommerce.house.gov\/files\/documents\/114\/letters\/unm-referral.pdf\">pages\u00a09<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/energycommerce.house.gov\/sites\/republicans.energycommerce.house.gov\/files\/documents\/114\/letters\/unm-referral.pdf\">-10<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Adding to the irony of the work of Ohls\u2019 lab is the claim that\u00a0it saves lives, even babies, by using the aborted parts of dead babies.<\/p>\n<p>One of the letters in the Panel documents also appears to come from Ohls, though her name is blacked out (<a href=\"https:\/\/energycommerce.house.gov\/sites\/republicans.energycommerce.house.gov\/files\/documents\/114\/letters\/unm-referral.pdf\">page 225<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/news\/nightmare-lab-university-pediatrician-builds-career-baby-parts-research\/screen-shot-2016-06-28-at-11-42-01-pm\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-96923\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-large wp-image-96923\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-06-28-at-11.42.01-PM-616x700.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-06-28 at 11.42.01 PM\" width=\"474\" height=\"539\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-06-28-at-11.42.01-PM-616x700.png 616w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-06-28-at-11.42.01-PM-264x300.png 264w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-06-28-at-11.42.01-PM-768x872.png 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-06-28-at-11.42.01-PM.png 1220w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to the DREAM Lab site, Ohls is the sole \u201cprincipal investigator\u201d for the lab.<\/p>\n<p>The lab&#8217;s procurement notebook, as detailed in <a href=\"\/news\/abortion-clinic-provided-whole-brains-for-summer-camp\/\">the Live Action News article<\/a>\u00a0about acquiring whole brains for dissection at a students&#8217; summer camp, holds troubling information on late-term aborted babies who\u00a0Ohls and her colleagues use for their research, such as this note which says &#8220;Researcher #1 [Ohls] thought 32 [weeks gestation]&#8221; Roth, MD, MS, Executive Vice President and Chancellor for Health Sciences, CEO, UNM Health System and Dean, School of Medicine<\/a>. His name was redacted in the 291-page document from the Select Panel; however, the letterhead and unredacted parts of his signature match his particular office. Pro-lifers report meetings with Roth, asking him to intervene, but he <a href=\"http:\/\/www.operationrescue.org\/archives\/lobos-of-death-a-look-at-the-radical-abortion-agenda-at-the-university-of-new-mexico\/\">has stood by UMNHSC and the doctors doing fetal tissue research. <\/a>Roth&#8217;s letter to New Mexico legislators is only one of a series of defenses he has made, attempting to further justify the work of his university in funding abortion, blurring ethical lines, and profiting off of the deaths of babies, including those in the third trimester.<\/p>\n<p>All of the studies that Roth cites as being important are ones in which Ohls and her colleagues purport to find cures for afflictions that babies face, but lost in translation is the fact\u00a0that preborn babies, some viable, must die for the\u00a0lab experimentation to continue. Ohls has fostered an illustrious career from the tissue and body parts of aborted babies.<\/p>\n<p>The ultimate irony of Ohls\u2019 work is the department in which she works: Pediatrics.
