America witnessed a horrible crime this month: 49 people were murdered at a gay nightclub in Orlando. Who was responsible? You might blame the guy that pulled the trigger, one Omar Mateen<\/a>. But according to<\/a> Rewire<\/em> editor Jodi Jacobson, he wasn\u2019t the only culprit. The next day, she said pro-lifers also bore some responsibility.<\/p>\n

Seriously.<\/p>\n

Pro-lifers have been accused before<\/a> of crimes we had nothing to do with<\/a>. However, it usually happens when the perpetrator and motive<\/a> have yet to be identified. That wasn\u2019t the case here: Mateen called 911 and pledged allegiance to ISIS–not 40 Days for Life<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Still, Jacobson isn\u2019t convinced. To her, the claim \u201cthis is not who we are\u201d as Americans is \u201cat best aspirational for a country in which women\u2019s rights to their own bodies are a subject of ongoing debate\u2026\u201d Given her politics, Jacobson probably doesn’t mean the right to defend their bodies<\/a> or decide how much soda<\/a> to put in them. Rather, she\u2019s talking about the \u201cright\u201d to rip up<\/a> a child.<\/p>\n
