A Michigan abortionist, who made headlines after police found multiple containers of aborted children and\u00a0controlled substances in his car after a traffic incident involving a pedestrian, has been arrested on multiple charges.<\/p>\n

A press release<\/a> issued this week by the Michigan Attorney General’s office states that 74-year-old Michael Arthur Roth has been charged by the state with possession with intent to deliver schedule 2 narcotic Fentanyl, and six\u00a0counts of identity theft in the 48th District Court. In the 38th District Court in Eastpointe, Roth also faces three counts of Larceny in a Building.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\"lynn-mills-162752_000_gi89g63ur-1-0\" According to Lynn Mills (pictured right), a local pro-life activist, Roth is a circuit rider who has worked at several Michigan abortion facilities. Mills said that although Roth had an office for many years, he also performed abortions for the practices of notorious Michigan abortionists Jacob Kalo<\/a> and Abraham Alberto Hodari<\/a> as well as other facilities\u00a0currently being investigated for possible health violations.<\/p>\n

As Live Action News has previously reported<\/a>, the case stemmed from traffic accident the abortionist had in September 2015. After the accident, Roth’s car was impounded and he requested property from his car. A police incident report<\/a> of the accident provided to Live Action News by Mills reveals that police found evidence of “15 containers of suspected human tissue” inside Roth’s car.<\/p>\n

The AG’s release<\/a> details the charges relating to the controlled substances Roth had in his possession:<\/p>\n

[U]pon retrieving the property, local police found evidence of six prescriptions for Ciprofloxacin, a common antibiotic used with abortion procedures, which was allegedly written by Dr. Angel Ojeda, a doctor who runs the Eastland Women\u2019s Center in Eastpointe, Michigan. The clinic\u2019s primary focus is terminating pregnancies. Officers also found vials of Fentanyl, a drug commonly used as a sedative during termination procedures, as well as containers of post-conception material.<\/p>\n

Medical records indicate that Roth sometimes worked out of Dr. Ojeda\u2019s clinic. Dr. Ojeda and the women whose names were listed on the prescriptions alleged they had no knowledge of the prescriptions. Dr. Ojeda also stated that a large amount of Fentanyl was stolen from his office in December 2014. When interviewed, Ojeda stated he had never given Roth permission to have Fentanyl or Ciprofloxacin from his clinic, a statement which was corroborated by a clinic employee. A separate medical assistant employed at the Eastland Women\u2019s Center allegedly admitted to stealing medical equipment and medications used in abortions from the clinic for Roth and that he was fully aware the materials were stolen.<\/p>\n

A search warrant was completed on Roth\u2019s home and office. Additional vials of Fentanyl were found at the home. Both the Fentanyl found in the car and in the house were matched to the Fentanyl that was allegedly stolen from the women\u2019s clinic. The search warrant also revealed a large amount of cash with names and what is believed to be pregnancy information attached to each bundle of cash, medical materials such as syringes, disposable scalpels and empty containers similar to the ones filled with post-conception material found in Roth\u2019s car.<\/p>\n

Over the course of the investigation, Department of Attorney General Investigators also spoke with a woman who alleged that in the late 1990\u2019s Dr. Roth performed an abortion on two separate occasions in her residence.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

According to an earlier complaint<\/a> issued in November 2015, several of the medications found in Roth\u2019s possession were expired and bore the name of another prescribing physician where Roth \u201cprovides coverage.\u201d The complaint<\/a> accused Roth of failing to protect patients\u2019 personal information as well as disposing of \u201cpathological waste,\u201d i.e. aborted babies, pursuant to state statutes.<\/p>\n

Mills told Live Action News that the abortionist listed in the November complaint is Angel Ojeda (pictured left) who has been committing\u00a0abortions since 1974. Mills has attempted to locate the police report about Roth’s theft of Ojeda’s medications and after a FOIA request turned up empty she said she seriously questions Ojeda’s account of how Roth came into possession of the medications. Mills provided Live Action News with a copy of an open formal complaint<\/a>\u00a0against Ojeda on file with the state’s Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) related to this case. The complaint\u00a0reads in part:<\/p>\n

Respondent failed to report the theft or loss of controlled substances to Complainant as evidenced by Respondents admission during an interview with Complainant’s inspector that in December 2014, 84 2m1 vials of Fentanyl 50mcg\/ml were missing.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The complaint against Ojeda also states that he “failed to keep all records related to controlled substances acquired for at least five years” and “to keep prescription drugs securely locked, with access limited to authorized individuals.”<\/p>\n

“If proper protocol had been in place, Roth should not have come in contact with these drugs,” Mills explained.<\/p>\n

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette said that Roth’s actions jeopardized the safety of Michigan\u2019s healthcare system: “His attempt to break the law at the expense of his patient\u2019s safety is not only illegal, but goes against the code he took upon becoming a doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the AG, Roth has been arraigned in two counties, one at the 38th District Court in Eastpointe the other at the 48th District Court in Oakland County. He has been assigned a $10,000 personal recognizance bond for each county and will appear for a pre-exam conference on July 7th in Oakland County and on July 12 in Eastpoint. In addition to the criminal charges, Roth has also formally been charged with violating the Michigan public health code, and faces potential suspension of his medical license if convicted of the criminal charges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
