Schafer said, &#8220;The HCDAO produced to me what it asserted was the unedited video footage on December 18, 2015.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Center for Medical Progress (CMP) attorney Peter Breen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centerformedicalprogress.org\/2016\/05\/planned-parenthood-attorney-admits-receiving-confidential-documents-and-information-from-houston-da\/\">in a statement Tuesday said that<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;These filings also include evidence that appears to show that the DA\u2019s office worked with Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast to undermine the Texas Attorney General\u2019s independent investigation of that abortion provider. The conduct of Harris County prosecutors in this case is outrageous and illegal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The admission by\u00a0Schaffer came in an affidavit in\u00a0response to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centerformedicalprogress.org\/2016\/04\/motions-to-quash-illegitimate-indictments-in-houston-case\/\">motion to quash the indictments <\/a>against CMP head, David Daleiden.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2016\/may\/24\/center-medical-progress-indictments-prosecutor-sha\/\">The Washington Times notes<\/a> that &#8220;Schaffer said that Harris County Assistant District Attorney Sunni Mitchell figured out a way to bypass a state directive in order to deliver him raw video footage taken by the pro-life Center for Medical Progress.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>CMP points out that\u00a0Schaffer said that the\u00a0Harris County DA&#8217;s office would work to\u00a0bypass a directive from\u00a0the state&#8217;s AG office to not provide raw footage to Planned Parenthood. In\u00a0Schaffer&#8217;s own words:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u201cI was told that the Attorney General\u2019s Office agreed to give it to the HCDAO on the condition that the HCDAO not give it to PPGC. Mitchell told me that she would try to obtain the footage by other means.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Prior to this revelation, the DA&#8217;s office was already under suspicion for\u00a0a number of reasons, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One of its prosecutors <a href=\"\/news\/texas-prosecutor-creates-possible-conflict-interest-planned-parenthood-investigation\/\">sits on the board of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>One of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2016\/01\/28\/d-a-who-indicted-david-daleiden-received-over-25000-from-attorney-for-late-term-abortionist\/\">largest campaign donors<\/a> to the District Attorney herself is Chip Lewis, the attorney for <a href=\"\/news\/women-need-to-know-the-horrific-track-records-of-abortionists\/\">notorious late-term Texas abortionist<\/a>, Douglas Karpen (whose clinic was <a href=\"\/news\/texas-gosnell-douglas-karpen-no-longer-terminating-unborn-texans\/\">reportedly shut down<\/a> after the passage of HB2).<\/li>\n<li>According to the Associated Press, the grand jury <a href=\"\/news\/the-jury-is-still-out-on-what-actually-happened-with-the\/\">never even voted<\/a> on whether or not to indict Planned Parenthood.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Thomas More Society, legal counsel for Daleiden<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomasmoresociety.org\/planned-parenthood-attorney-admits-receiving-confidential-materials-from-houston-da\/\">, explains:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Under oath, Schaffer admitted that he and Assistant District Attorney Sunni Mitchell attempted to do an end-run around the Texas Attorney General\u2019s directive to Mitchell to not share raw video footage with Planned Parenthood: \u201cI was told that the Attorney General\u2019s office agreed to give it to the Harris County District Attorney\u2019s office on the condition that they not give it to Planned Parenthood. Mitchell told me that she would try to obtain the footage by other means.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">In 2013, Mitchell was responsible for a Grand Jury that refused to indict Houston\u2019s late-term abortionist Douglas Karpen. This was despite photographs and eyewitness testimony that implicated Karpen in illegal late-term abortions and homicide of born-alive infants, similar to Philadelphia\u2019s notoriously convicted Kermit Gosnell.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>(More on Douglas Karen <a href=\"\/news\/horrors-at-texas-abortion-clinic-slashed-necks-babies-pulled-apart-piece-by-piece-assistant-drenched-in-blood\/\">here<\/a>.) This activity between Planned Parenthood&#8217;s attorney and the Harris County attorney was going on while the public was under the pretense that the abortion chain itself would be investigated by the grand jury.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomasmoresociety.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/CCL-11_States-Response-to-Defendants-MTQ_With-Exhibits_David-Robert-Daleiden.pdf\">state&#8217;s response to the motion to quash <\/a>includes a lengthy statement by Harris County District Attorney, Devon Anderson, and Assistant District Attorney, Melissa P. Hervey. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomasmoresociety.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/CCL-11_States-Response-to-Defendants-MTQ_With-Exhibits_David-Robert-Daleiden.pdf\">Schaffer&#8217;s sworn statement begins on page 34<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the original announcement of the motion to quash, CMP said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Attorneys for David Daleiden today filed a motion to quash the indictment by the Harris County District Attorney citing a series of abuses that occurred during and after the grand jury\u2019s proceedings that are in violation of Mr. Daleiden\u2019s due process rights under the Texas Constitution. \u00a0Prosecutors systematically leaked Grand Jury information to unauthorized persons and the grand jury acted without proper authority.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Now Scahffer&#8217;s admission sparks real\u00a0flames of law-breaking against the prosecutors in this case.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Planned Parenthood attorney Josh Schafer in a newly released court\u00a0affidavit has\u00a0admitted that the\u00a0Harris County District Attorney&#8217;s office provided him unedited video evidence recorded by the Center for Medical Progress.
