The corporation focuses on the services it claims to provide, such as mammograms, cancer screenings, and providing\u00a0low-income women with health exams that they wouldn&#8217;t get otherwise.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A new video by Live Action, however, breaks down how Planned Parenthood&#8217;s own abortion numbers show that women&#8217;s health care is\u00a0not\u00a0its focus; Planned Parenthood is in the business of abortion. The organization\u00a0is America&#8217;s\u00a0largest abortion chain, committing over 30 percent of the nation&#8217;s abortions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qtgqxvaV-8U\" width=\"620\" height=\"350\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Statistics show that one in eight clients who go to Planned Parenthood gets an abortion. Guttmacher, the <a href=\"\/news\/how-independent-is-guttmacher-from-planned-parenthood\/\">former research arm<\/a> of Planned Parenthood,\u00a0estimates that approximately 1.06 million abortions were committed in 2011, the lowest rate since abortions became legal in 1973 \u2014\u00a0and Planned Parenthood committed the lion&#8217;s share.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-126173 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1in8-1-700x700.jpg\" alt=\"1in8-1\" width=\"700\" height=\"700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1in8-1-700x700.jpg 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1in8-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1in8-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1in8-1-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1in8-1-80x80.jpg 80w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1in8-1-500x500.jpg 500w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1in8-1.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Most abortions take place during the first trimester of pregnancy. Many of these are medication abortions, a non-surgical procedure where a woman takes a combination of pills \u2014\u00a0mifepristone and misoprostol \u2014\u00a0during the first trimester to end the life of her preborn child. These pills, called RU-486, were only approved by the FDA in 2000, so long-term risks are still being determined. Women can typically expect to experience nausea, vomiting, severe cramping and abdominal pain, and headaches; 5 to 8 percent\u00a0of women experience severe bleeding and need to undergo surgery to stop the bleeding.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lRDnVSMr5j0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Women also might undergo an aspiration abortion, which\u00a0is the most common abortion procedure in America. After dilating the mother&#8217;s cervix, a catheter is inserted into the mother&#8217;s uterus to suction out the baby. The abortionist then uses a tool called a curette to scrape out\u00a0any parts of the preborn child\u00a0that remains. Women undergoing this procedure risk injury to the cervix or uterus, hemorrhaging, infection, and even death. It also can make it difficult for women to successfully carry a future pregnancy to term.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5THDmys8z30\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>But Planned Parenthood doesn&#8217;t want you to realize how many of these abortions it commits\u00a0every year. The corporation claims\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2012\/10\/05\/false-abortion-is-only-3-of-planned-parenthoods-services\/\">abortion is only 3 percent of their services<\/a>, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/fact-checker\/wp\/2015\/08\/12\/for-planned-parenthood-abortion-stats-3-percent-and-94-percent-are-both-misleading\/\">this is a myth<\/a>\u00a0that has been debunked by the Washington Post, Slate, and other news outlets.<\/p>\n<p>The facts show that Planned Parenthood\u00a0<a href=\"\/news\/mammosham-watch-the-viral-video-exposing-planned-parenthood-false-mammogram-claims\/\">lies about providing mammograms<\/a>, underplays the number of abortions it commits, and works hard to convince the country that it\u00a0focuses on providing legitimate health care to low-income women. But Planned Parenthood&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"\/news\/abortion-inc-new-report-shows-how-planned-parenthood-used-taxpayer-dollars-to-become-the-abortion-giant\/\">number one priority is abortion<\/a>.
