The Kansas Legislature recently passed a bill later signed into law<\/a> by pro-life Governor Sam Brownback, which would defund Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion chain. But the bill had barely left the governor’s desk\u00a0before Planned Parenthood filed a lawsuit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While Planned Parenthood Advocates of Kansas & Mid-Missouri\u00a0decried the law<\/a> as one which would “punish\u00a0the women and men who have freely chosen Planned Parenthood for their health care for decades,” the truth is that all of the funds currently received by Planned Parenthood would be redirected to Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), which vastly outnumber<\/a> Planned Parenthood facilities\u00a0and provide more comprehensive health care.<\/p>\n

\"NewDefundAd3\"<\/a><\/p>\n

As is\u00a0trending on Facebook for Wednesday,<\/a>\u00a0the state must continue to fund Planned Parenthood until July. This is the third delay, with Planned Parenthood Advocates of Kansas and Mid-Missouri\u00a0boasting<\/a>\u00a0that “Planned Parenthood is still delivering high quality health care to Medicaid patients,” with the hashtag \u202a<\/span><\/a>#\u200e<\/span>PPKMAlwaysWins\u202c<\/span>.<\/p>\n

But Planned Parenthood has quite<\/a> the history<\/a> of problems<\/a> when it comes<\/a> to Medicaid – namely, fraud. As Live Action News’s Cassy Fiano reported<\/a> late last year:<\/p>\n

…45 public audits of Planned Parenthood affiliates, along with 57 audits of state family planning programs, found waste, fraud, and abuse to the tune of $129.7 million.<\/p>\n

In addition to uncovering taxpayer fraud at Planned Parenthood, ADF also discovered that Planned Parenthood has engaged in improper billing with Medicaid, billing in excess of the actual cost, billing for services that were not necessary, and making duplicate bills. Planned Parenthood\u2019s Medicaid fraud contributed to the total amount of all improperly billed federal Medicaid payments in the nation, which equaled $14.4\u00a0billion\u00a0<\/em>in 2013 alone.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

What’s also interesting is how Facebook characterized Planned Parenthood – as a “health services provider.”<\/p>\n

Officials said funds would continue to the abortion provider until July after lawyers hired by the state left while preparing for a lawsuit over Kansas cutting Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Just one problem:\u00a0Planned Parenthood’s actual health services continue to decline<\/a>, while abortion and taxpayer funding increase.<\/div>\n

If Planned Parenthood and its supporters\u00a0truly wanted\u00a0Kansans to\u00a0receive “high quality health care” – comprehensive care, at that – they would support the transference of funding to federally qualified and community health centers.<\/div>\n
