(Newsbusters)\u00a0Abortion is just a part of nature, according to one liberal writer.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Salon published<\/a>\u00a0a story with the subhead, \u201cWhat do whales, caribou and humans have in common? Abortion as a response to ill health and resource scarcity.\u201d For the liberal site, writer Valerie Tarico, who describes herself as \u201cpro-abortion,\u201d insisted that human abortion is an \u201cordinary but important part of normal reproduction\u201d because orcas and caribou have abortions too.<\/p>\n

In other words, women aren\u2019t so different from the animals after all.<\/p>\n

In her story, Tarico clarified that she meant \u201cspontaneous abortion, also known as miscarriage.\u201d<\/p>\n

Again, in other words, miscarriage is synonymous with abortion. (Way to alienate and demean women who have actually experienced the tragedy of miscarriage, Ms. Tarico.)<\/p>\n

Tarico went on to define this type of \u201cabortion\u201d as \u201cone of several ways that nature promotes healthy babies that grow up to have babies of their own.\u201d<\/p>\n

To prove her claim, she pointed to the caribou of northern Alberta and the orcas of the Pacific Northwest where abortion is \u201calarmingly common.\u201d<\/p>\n

Under the subject \u201cCaribou Abortion,\u201d Tarico warned that human beings have disturbed the \u201cnutritional balance\u201d and ecosystem of pregnant caribou during their \u201cproject of baby formation\u201d in the name of oil.<\/p>\n

Under \u201cOrca Abortion,\u201d she detailed how dogs spot \u201corca poop\u201d and \u201cnasty goo\u201d so that biologists can prove \u201cpregnant orcas are aborting 60 percent of their pregnancies.\u201d<\/p>\n

Because humans eat too much salmon that pregnant orcas rely on, Tarico said, eventually the \u201cmother\u2019s body finally aborts a pregnancy\u201d and sometimes even dies herself. (Awful humans!)<\/p>\n

Last but not least, Tarico tackled \u201cHuman Abortion.\u201d Just like the caribou and orcas, women boast \u201cnatural mechanisms\u201d to \u201cspontaneously abort.\u201d<\/p>\n

But humans had a special advantage with abortion, she added.<\/p>\n

\u201c[W]hat most mammals accomplish through instinct or automatic biological processes, we humans may accomplish via conscious decision,\u201d she hyped.<\/p>\n

\u201c[W]e too have spontaneous abortions that stack the odds in favor of healthy children,\u201d she added. \u201cBut in determining whether to carry forward a pregnancy, we\u2014unlike our caribou and orca relatives\u2014can supplement biology and instinct with conscious reasoning.\u201d<\/p>\n

Except for that abortion \u2013 the destruction of life \u2013 spits in the face of conscious reasoning.<\/p>\n

The \u201cconscious mind\u201d allows couples to determine whether or not they have the \u201cnecessary conditions for a thriving child\u201d including \u201ctwo decades of persistent loving nurture\u201d as well as a woman\u2019s body, psyche and all-around support, she added.<\/p>\n

Prospective human parents \u201cwant to live deeply and well, and we want the same for our children\u201d she said. \u201cFor the sake of prudence or aspiration or loyalty or responsibility or love, we may choose consciously to postpone or terminate a pregnancy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they [women] choose abortion, they are choosing to invest in their own future or the children they already have,\u201d she added. (That\u2019s right, the unborn baby is completely out of the picture.)<\/p>\n

\u201cNo decision process is perfect, but the wisdom of women or couples in choosing therapeutic abortion in many ways complements the body\u2019s own wisdom in choosing spontaneous abortion,\u201d she said, going on to cite\u00a0different studies spelling doom for women who couldn\u2019t access abortion.<\/p>\n

While pro-abortion, Tarico admitted she wanted fewer abortions.<\/p>\n

To accomplish that goal, she recommended contraception and tackling the lack of resources that \u201clead a prospective mother, whether she is a caribou or orca or woman, to abort a pregnancy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

She ironically attributed abortion (for caribou, orca, and human) to \u201cgreed and inequality\u201d by human beings or \u201cthe most powerful members of the most powerful species taking what they can and leaving prospective mothers with no path to sufficiency.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abortion\u00a0is<\/em>\u00a0due to inequality \u2013 the inequality of the unborn. And the often selfish greed of those who destroy him or her.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbortion isn\u2019t the problem; it\u2019s an adaptive response to an adverse situation,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n

Tarico\u2019s abortion advocacy is no secret. Last year, Planned Parenthood\u00a0honored and awarded her<\/a>\u00a0for a story where she declared herself as \u201cpro-abortion.\u201d<\/p>\n
