{"id":94093,"date":"2016-05-16T12:40:40","date_gmt":"2016-05-16T16:40:40","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=94093"},"modified":"2016-05-16T12:40:40","modified_gmt":"2016-05-16T16:40:40","slug":"samantha-bee-and-patton-oswalt-further-pro-abortion-desperation-in-rant-about-crisis-pregnancy-centers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/samantha-bee-and-patton-oswalt-further-pro-abortion-desperation-in-rant-about-crisis-pregnancy-centers\/","title":{"rendered":"Abortion advocates are not experts on pregnancy centers"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>&#8220;Crisis pregnancy centers may\u00a0<em>look\u00a0<\/em>sweet and helpful, but they&#8217;re really full of toxic bulls**t,&#8221; claimed comedian Samantha Bee on a recent episode of\u00a0<em>Full Frontal with Samantha Bee<\/em>, which smacks of pro-abortion desperation.<\/p>\n<p>The segment featured claims from guests who could hardly be considered impartial or objective: Vicki Saporta, president and CEO of the National Abortion Federation, and\u00a0Cherisse Scott, CEO and founder of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sisterreach.org\/about-sr\/herstory\/\">SisterReach<\/a>, a Tennessee-based pro-abortion organization (though Scott&#8217;s association wasn&#8217;t mentioned in the clip).<\/p>\n<p>Comedian Patton Oswalt also appears in the segment as a magician,\u00a0claiming, &#8220;Tonight we look at both sides of the equation: the truth, and the illusion.&#8221;\u00a0But can we really expect the truth about pregnancy centers to be told by those who have everything to gain from the sale of abortions? Short answer: no.<\/p>\n<p>(<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">WARNING<\/span>: Explicit language)<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SY0A6gyyQys?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><!--more-->According to National Abortion Federation president and CEO Vicki Saporta, &#8220;a crisis pregnancy center is a fake abortion clinic.&#8221; \u00a0In truth, these\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.care-net.org\">centers<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/islandspcc.org\">many<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/soundchoicespc.org\">which<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcofhattiesburg.org\/services\/\">the<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.1stchoice.org\">clip<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pregnancypennsylvania.com\/our-services\/\">shows<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/birthright.org\/en\/our-services\">by<\/a> name, do not present themselves as\u00a0abortion clinics. They present themselves as centers which offer information on\u00a0alternatives to abortion.<\/p>\n<p>Saporta claims in the clip, &#8220;They spread these lies, hoping to frighten women and to persuade them not to go ahead with obtaining the abortion that they\u00a0want.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The truth: These\u00a0so-called &#8216;lies&#8217; consist of\u00a0information on <a href=\"\/news\/father-of-fetalogy-describes-fetal-development\/\">fetal development<\/a> and <a href=\"\/news\/abortion-advocates-refuse-to-acknowledge-documented-abortion-risks\/\">abortion risks<\/a>, provided to inform women of all of their options before making a decision. Non-biased counseling\u00a0<a href=\"\/news\/abortion-industry-quotes-show-women-are-often-denied-fair-accurate-and-comprehensive-counsel\/\">cannot be expected<\/a>\u00a0from an abortion center, which directly profits from the sale of an abortion. Pregnancy centers, on the other hand, don&#8217;t charge for their services and have nothing to personally gain when a woman chooses life.<\/p>\n<p>And what if\u00a0abortion\u00a0<em>isn&#8217;t<\/em> really &#8220;what\u00a0the woman wants,&#8221; Ms. Saporta? Tragically, many abortions\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theunchoice.com\/articles\/howcommoniscoercion.htm\">are coerced<\/a>. A recent report <a href=\"http:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2015\/09\/18\/how-many-women-are-pressured-into-abortions\/\">indicates<\/a> that 64% of women\u00a0are pressured or forced into abortion. (For help if you or someone you know is in this situation, <a href=\"\/news\/what-to-do-if-your-boyfriend-wants-you-to-get-an-abortion\/\">go here<\/a>. <a href=\"\/news\/pressured-to-abort-because-doctors-said-her-baby-would-have-deformities-this-young-woman-chose-life\/\">Molly is an example<\/a> of a woman who resisted the pressure and chose life anyway.) Countless more\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.silentnomoreawareness.org\/about\/\">regret their decision<\/a>\u00a0even if it was a decision made alone. But the abortion industry <a href=\"\/news\/no-post-abortion-syndrome-is-not-a-myth\/\">pretends these women don&#8217;t exist<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Saporta continues:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">They create the illusion that they&#8217;re an abortion clinic&#8230; by adopting names that are similar to abortion clinics, adopting the same logo, and fonts. They try to have women come in to have a free pregnancy test, or free ultrasound, and then their goal is to detain them&#8230; they locate next to an abortion clinic, sometimes in the same building,<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It may seem silly to complain about\u00a0fonts and logos, or of\u00a0offering free services, but that&#8217;s the logic of the abortion industry.\u00a0What really stands out here, though,\u00a0is the underlying assertion that offering <em>actual choices<\/em> to women is a bad thing.<\/p>\n<p>As abortion is never the only choice a woman has when facing an unplanned pregnancy, you&#8217;d think\u00a0abortion advocates\u00a0would welcome a place that offers women choices other than abortion. Well, no. That would cut into their <a href=\"\/news\/former-abortionist-abortion-big-business\/\">profit margins<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>National Abortion Federation CEO Saporta then claims that &#8220;women are given false ultrasound results,&#8221; after bemoaning how pro-life pregnancy\u00a0centers do not have the proper staff.<\/p>\n<p>The truth: Centers which offer ultrasounds <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aul.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Abortion-7_Pregnancy-Care-Centers.pdf\">do so<\/a> with the necessary training and credentials. And\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/projectultrasound.org\/whatwedo.html\">Project Ultrasound will only assist centers<\/a> that have or are &#8220;in the process of attaining the legal certification to offer ultrasound services in their state.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Saporta conveniently leaves out the <a href=\"\/news\/planned-parenthood-women-not-see-ultrasound\/\">fact<\/a>\u00a0that abortion clinics <a href=\"\/news\/according-study-naral-right-fear-ultrasounds\/\">don&#8217;t<\/a> typically\u00a0<a href=\"\/news\/planned-parenthood-ultrasound-except-using-find-fetal-organs\/\">show ultrasounds<\/a> to their patients, sometimes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2015\/12\/21\/she-asked-planned-parenthood-if-she-could-see-the-ultrasound-of-her-baby-no-its-against-our-policy\/\">flatly refuse a woman&#8217;s request<\/a> to see her ultrasound or <a href=\"\/news\/planned-parenthood-women-not-see-ultrasound\/\">turn away the screen<\/a>, and that they <a href=\"\/news\/if-ultrasounds-make-no-difference-then-why-do-pro-aborts-oppose-them\/\">lobby against laws<\/a> that would require an ultrasound be shown to a woman before an abortion. (So much for the illusion of actually caring about women&#8217;s ultrasound results, Ms. Saporta!)<\/p>\n<p>Saporta also claims\u00a0pregnancy centers&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230; want women to believe there will be long-term negative consequences, like they won&#8217;t be able to have children, like they\u00a0will suffer from post-abortive stress syndrome or that they would have an increased risk of breast cancer. They make them wait hours for the results of a pregnancy test which are pretty instantaneous, in order to make them listen to sermons and hear their propaganda and false medical information.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The truth: Such &#8220;long-term negative consequences&#8221; are\u00a0discussed by the centers\u00a0because that&#8217;s what an abortion may actually do to\u00a0a woman. There are multiple risks, which\u00a0include\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/abortion\/expert-answers\/FAQ-20058551\">infertility<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"\/news\/no-post-abortion-syndrome-is-not-a-myth\/\">post<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"\/news\/the-devastating-reality-of-post-abortion-stress-syndrome\/\">abortion<\/a> <a href=\"\/news\/women-share-their-post-abortion-pain-and-tegret\/\">syndrome<\/a>, and an <a href=\"https:\/\/pregnancyhelpnews.com\/hush-documentary-premiering-at-la-femme-film-festival-asks-are-there-long-term-risks-to-abortion\">increased risk<\/a> <a href=\"\/news\/women-at-risk-by-ignoring-the-link-between-breast-cancer-and-abortion-says-cancer-survivor-and-counselor\/\">of<\/a> <a href=\"\/news\/india-study-exposes-abortionbreast-cancer-link-planned-parenthood-tries-to-hide\/\">breast cancer<\/a>\u00a0that abortion clinics <a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/planned-parenthood-lying\/\">aren&#8217;t willing to admit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/AbortionProcedures.com\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-88619\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/levatino-ad-LAN.jpg\" alt=\"levatino-ad-LAN\" width=\"306\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/levatino-ad-LAN.jpg 306w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/levatino-ad-LAN-300x221.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 306px) 100vw, 306px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Those who consult pregnancy centers for free tests are most certainly not forced to &#8220;wait for hours.&#8221; Rather, each woman has\u00a0an opportunity to speak with a caring person who informs her of the fact that help is indeed available to her, should she choose to carry her child to term. Some women accept that help, and some do not. Nothing is forced upon women, and women are not held hostage, though Saporta certainly presents it that way.<\/p>\n<p>Cherisse Scott is introduced and is referred to as a &#8220;crisis pregnancy center mark.&#8221; Bee is shown acting out what she believes is done at pregnancy centers: a\u00a0botched ultrasound and religion mixed with care. Cherisse Scott claims that pregnancy centers\u00a0&#8220;disappear[] without a trace&#8221; once a woman carries and gives birth to her baby. Contrary to what may have been her own lamentable experience, <a href=\"\/news\/morning-center-amazing-work-replace-planned-parenthood\/\">many centers<\/a>\u00a0do <a href=\"http:\/\/optionline.org\/center-locator\/\">continue to provide\u00a0support and help<\/a>\u00a0well\u00a0after the baby is born, to assist both mother and child.<\/p>\n<p>While Scott claims\u00a0&#8220;they [the pregnancy center] weren&#8217;t there,&#8221; she also has a troubling message about her son:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">He deserved to be able to come into a loving situation, not in a situation where I was confused, because of a lie. I love my son, absolutely. But I&#8217;ll be very honest with you, if I could do this all over again, I would have an abortion.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Yes, re-read that. Scott claims a pregnancy center &#8220;lied&#8221; to her &#8211; and because of this, her son is alive, but she\u00a0would prefer it <em>if he were dead<\/em>. How unbelievably tragic.<\/p>\n<p>NAF&#8217;s Saporta ends by lamenting the fact that\u00a0&#8220;there are more than twice as many fake clinics as there are legitimate abortion providers in the United States.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Maybe someone should tell Ms. Saporta that abortion facilities\u00a0are <a href=\"\/news\/while-abortion-centers-close-record-rate-planned-parenthood-opens-most-new-ones\/\">closing<\/a>, not\u00a0because of pregnancy centers, but\u00a0<a href=\"\/news\/abortion-centers-are-closing-because-women-dont-need-them\/\">because<\/a> women <a href=\"\/news\/whats-the-real-reason-so-many-abortion-facilities-are-closing\/\">don&#8217;t<\/a> need them.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also interesting what Saporta and her ilk consider &#8220;legitimate.&#8221;\u00a0Are <a href=\"\/news\/medical-negligence-in-illinois-abortion-clinics-risk-womens-health-and-lives\/\">uninspected facilities<\/a> &#8220;legitimate&#8221;? Are <a href=\"\/news\/why-the-abortion-industry-cant-regulate-itself\/\">unaccountable, unregulated\u00a0abortion facilities<\/a> truly &#8220;legitimate&#8221;? Are facilities that violate health inspections and laws at every turn &#8220;legitimate&#8221;?\u00a0It is pro-abortion allies <a href=\"\/news\/in-virginia-elections-have-consequences-as-safety-standards-for-abortion-centers-gutted\/\">who have done away with health and safety\u00a0standards<\/a>\u00a0in order to allow shoddy facilities\u00a0to remain open, putting women at risk. In some states, tanning salons <a href=\"\/news\/bombshell-nyc-tanning-salons-inspected-more-often-than-abortion-clinics\/\">are inspected more<\/a> than abortion facilities. Women <a href=\"\/news\/studies-blast-safe-abortion-myths\/\">still die<\/a> from abortion and <a href=\"\/news\/writer-claims-her-abortion-was-a-totally-joyful-experience\/\">from abortionists&#8217; negligence<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>How many women die in pregnancy centers, Ms. Saporta?<\/p>\n<p>Patton Oswalt has the nerve to ask, &#8220;How do these con artists stay out of prison?&#8221; Apparently, to these pro-abortion sycophants, telling women about real abortion risks and offering them alternatives warrants prison time &#8211; but where are their cries for justice\u00a0when abortionists <a href=\"\/news\/new-details-on-the-death-of-tonya-reaves\/\">kill<\/a> and maim women?<\/p>\n<p>Oswalt continues:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Crisis pregnancy centers hide behind the fig leaf of the First Amendment, which I guess gives them the right to trick scared teenagers into not seeing a doctor. No one&#8217;s stoping them. The government&#8217;s behind it! State governments give millions of <em>your<\/em> tax dollars, to these d*ckheads&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Number one: No one is tricking anyone, and no one is trying to keep teens from seeing physicians. Pregnancy centers are there to offer alternatives to abortion\u00a0&#8211; and, since childbirth is one of those alternatives, then clearly, encouraging a teen to see a doctor (one who would care for her baby, not kill him)\u00a0would be important. Pregnancy centers connect teens with doctors who can care for them.<\/p>\n<p>Number two:\u00a0Some places <em>are<\/em>\u00a0unfortunately attempting to stop pregnancy centers from offering only alternatives to abortion.\u00a0<a href=\"\/news\/how-the-new-california-law-forces-pregnancy-centers-to-advertise-abortion\/\">California<\/a> is one of them.<\/p>\n<p>Number three: If we&#8217;re going to complain about millions of tax dollars, let&#8217;s start with Planned Parenthood, where abortion rates remain high and <a href=\"\/news\/planned-parenthood-health-care-services-declined-in-2014-while-taxpayer-funding-increased\/\">taxpayer dollars increase<\/a>, but <a href=\"\/news\/abortion-inc-new-report-shows-how-planned-parenthood-used-taxpayer-dollars-to-become-the-abortion-giant\/\">legitimate services decrease<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Live Action News has<a href=\"\/news\/debunking-narals-lies-about-crisis-pregnancy-centers-part-1\/\">\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"\/news\/debunking-narals-lies-about-crisis-pregnancy-centers-part-two\/\">addressed\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"\/news\/debunking-narals-lies-about-crisis-pregnancy-centers-part-three\/\">pro-abortion<\/a>\u00a0claims about pregnancy centers<a href=\"\/news\/crisis-pregnancy-centers-mislead-women\/\">\u00a0before<\/a>, as NARAL Pro-Choice America has similarly attempted to lie about pregnancy centers.<\/p>\n<p>Places that offer women alternatives to shelling out cash for abortions are just not welcome according to those who claim to stand for &#8220;choice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Tricks and illusions are fun, but crisis pregnancy centers are just plain a**holes!&#8221; says Oswalt.\u00a0Sorry, but\u00a0the women and children who have been and continue to be helped by pregnancy centers would beg to differ.
