{"id":93720,"date":"2016-05-02T14:33:58","date_gmt":"2016-05-02T18:33:58","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=93720"},"modified":"2016-05-02T21:05:09","modified_gmt":"2016-05-03T01:05:09","slug":"vague-911-call-kansas-abortion-facility-with-questionable-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/vague-911-call-kansas-abortion-facility-with-questionable-history\/","title":{"rendered":"Kansas abortion center with questionable history places vague 911 call"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>An abortion facility once\u00a0<a href=\"\/news\/abortion-facility-owner-prevents-police-investigating-teens-safety\/\">accused of holding a teen against her will for an abortion<\/a>\u00a0(and refusing to allow police to enter) is in the news again &#8211; this time for a less-than-informative 911 call.<\/p>\n<p>South Wind Women&#8217;s Center, the former facility\u00a0of deceased late-term abortion George Tiller, called 911 on April 15, 2016, for a patient who was reported to be &#8220;in stable condition&#8221; by the caller, who refused to give any other details to the 911 dispatcher and requested &#8220;regular traffic&#8221; &#8211; no lights or sirens &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.operationrescue.org\/archives\/emergency-transport-of-abortion-patient-delayed-by-evasive-caller-and-distracted-dispatcher\/\">according to Operation Rescue<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mAgrhREg01Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>911 call information can be and is often obtained by groups like Operation Rescue who may then make it public &#8211; exposing the myth of the &#8220;safe abortion.&#8221; What is unusual about this particular call is that the abortion facility representative refused to give any specifics about what happened when asked, and the 911 dispatcher interrupted the call several times to tend to other non-emergency calls.\u00a0The reason for this is unknown.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-88619\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/levatino-ad-LAN.jpg\" alt=\"levatino-ad-LAN\" width=\"306\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/levatino-ad-LAN.jpg 306w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/levatino-ad-LAN-300x221.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 306px) 100vw, 306px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Operation Rescue notes that the facility has erected a 9-foot fence around the facility to keep pro-lifers from seeing what goes on when ambulances arrive. But even more concerning is the fact that, due to the five-year holdup of a state law requiring licensing and inspection of abortion facilities, South Wind has never been inspected:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">In 2011, the legislature passed an abortion facility licensing law that would have prevented this clinic from ever opening. Because that law has been stuck in a county court for five long years \u2013 with no end in sight \u2014 South Wind has never been inspected and remains outside of any oversight authority.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>OR president Troy Newman says that Kansas AG Derek Schmidt has &#8220;dragged his feet on this law for five years,&#8221; which &#8220;is a source of shame for an administration that claims to be pro-life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"\/news\/abortion-facility-owner-prevents-police-investigating-teens-safety\/\">previously noted<\/a>, Julie Burkhart, owner of South Wind, has long lobbied against laws that would\u00a0in any way regulate or hold accountable abortion facilities like hers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An abortion facility once\u00a0accused of holding a teen against her will for an abortion\u00a0(and refusing to allow police to enter) is in the news again &#8211; this time for a less-than-informative 911 call.
