In a recent interview with the Seattle Times, Planned Parenthood president and CEO\u00a0Cecile Richards complained<\/a> about what she perceived as a\u00a0“profound” “lack of empathy” shown by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to women who choose abortion. Richards then went on to explain that\u00a0she aborted her fourth child,\u00a0and it “wasn’t a difficult decision” for her or her husband.<\/p>\n

Wait a minute – is this a contradiction? Either abortion is difficult and deserves empathy… or it isn’t, and it\u00a0doesn’t. You can’t have it both ways, Ms. Richards.\u00a0If it isn’t<\/em> a difficult decision, then why complain about a perceived lack of empathy toward women\u00a0who find themselves facing that decision?<\/p>\n

Like\u00a0all good\u00a0pro-abortion feminists, Richards claims abortion was just no big deal for her. Her claim falls into line with the likes of writer Amanda Marcotte,\u00a0whose over-the-top diatribes cause much of the\u00a0population to wonder\u00a0if her writings are\u00a0satire or serious, and who, among other things,\u00a0has compared abortion to having a cavity removed<\/a>. Her claim also falls into line with Ilyse Hogue, the president\u00a0of NARAL, who says she aborted<\/a>\u00a0her baby because she just couldn’t have been a mom and successful at the same time (how’s that feminism working out for you?).\u00a0And they’re not alone<\/a>. Many women claim that aborting their children didn’t bother them in the slightest\u00a0– and this seems to be\u00a0exactly what today’s extreme pro-abortion feminists are hoping for.<\/p>\n

Live Action News writer Cassy Fiano has\u00a0pointed out<\/a>\u00a0that in the past,\u00a0even Planned Parenthood and Hillary Clinton have\u00a0adhered\u00a0to the idea that\u00a0abortion is a difficult decision for women. Clinton called it not only difficult, but “soul-searching.” But now, despite the fact that the public believes\u00a0that women do (and should) wrestle with questions of abortion’s\u00a0morality<\/a>,\u00a0the most vocal abortion proponents no longer wish to go along with the impression that abortion is a “difficult decision.”<\/p>\n

After years of insisting that choosing\u00a0to abort one’s child is a gut-wrenching moral decision, pro-abortion feminists now\u00a0want to switch up the script. Why? And why now?<\/p>\n

Is it\u00a0because they never really believed abortion was all that gut-wrenching in the first place – they just knew they had to sell it that way to gain public acceptance? (After all, their go-to argument is still the hard case scenarios…\u00a0rape, incest<\/a>,\u00a0life of the mother<\/a>. But in reality, they push for zero restrictions on abortion, regardless of circumstance or gestational age.) Is their\u00a0anger about the wave of pro-life laws<\/a>\u00a0finally\u00a0causing the mask of reasonability\u00a0to fall away?<\/p>\n

87 percent of the American public <\/a>currently\u00a0believes\u00a0that abortion is\u00a0a “difficult decision,” and feels it should\u00a0be restricted after the first trimester.\u00a059 percent believe abortion does women more harm than good.\u00a0 The numbers aren’t trending favorably toward the pro-abortion feminist view.\u00a0\u00a0So now\u00a0pro-abortion feminists have chosen to\u00a0pretend that abortion isn’t really all that serious – no, no… it’s just a quick, simple procedure to fix a problem. We didn’t want a baby, so, we didn’t have one! Voila! No agonizing. No fuss. No difficulty.<\/p>\n

In reality, pro-abortion feminists like Cecile Richards – and the abortion giant\u00a0she leads – do women a disservice by presenting the abortion of children as an event of little consequence. They have sought to delegitimize the painful abortion experiences of millions of women who feel they were lied to or pressured into what\u00a0ended up being a life-altering choice<\/a>. Increased risk of suicide<\/a>, post-traumatic stress<\/a>\u00a0reactions from abortion, physical risks<\/a>, even death<\/a> – the abortion industry and its pro-abortion feminist cohorts pretend these things don’t exist as a result of abortion. The right to abortion is more important to them than any pain individual women might experience as a result of the\u00a0choice to abort. The only stories of individual pain you’ll hear from the pro-abortion side are from women who\u00a0either can’t access abortion or who die from illegal abortion. Legal abortion deaths and injuries? Crickets.<\/p>\n

And let’s not forget that the preborn child is rarely considered at all.<\/p>\n

Under the leadership of a woman who believes abortion is not a difficult choice, Planned Parenthood has given women inaccurate medical information<\/a>\u00a0before abortions, has disregarded mandatory reporting laws<\/a> for statutory rape, and has aided and abetted sex trafficking<\/a> of minor girls.<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood and its president, Cecile Richards, aren’t about\u00a0helping women.\u00a0They’re about perpetuating the lie that abortion is easy and doesn’t harm anyone.\u00a0They’ve had to change their tune\u00a0because,\u00a0despite the fact that the public bought into the “abortion is a difficult decision” rhetoric they were selling, it still hasn’t made abortion palatable to the majority of people.<\/p>\n

There’s still just no\u00a0way to make abortion a beautiful thing – because it isn’t. Abortion\u00a0means death for a human being, and most people – no matter how they try to frame it with euphemisms – know this.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
