Among the more popular? \u201cA fetus isn\u2019t human.\u201d When it comes to late-term abortion, I\u2019m tempted to respond with a question.<\/p>\n<p>So what?<\/p>\n<p>For argument\u2019s sake, let\u2019s ignore basic biology and assume that a human sperm and egg could somehow produce a nonhuman animal. We still have laws against animal cruelty, and Dr. Kanwaljeet Anand\u2019s research at the University of Tennessee suggests a fetus<a href=\"http:\/\/foxx.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=345954\"> can feel pain<\/a> by 20 weeks. If you think an abortion doesn\u2019t sound painful, then listen to someone who used to perform them.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Abortions at 20 weeks typically involve a technique called dilation and evacuation (D&amp;E). <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abortionprocedures.com\/\">Dr. Anthony Levatino<\/a> performed over 1200 abortions during his career, and in the following video, he describes what a D&amp;E entails.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jgw4X7Dw_3k?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">After the amniotic fluid is removed, the abortionist uses a sopher clamp \u2014 a grasping instrument with rows of sharp \u201cteeth\u201d \u2014 to grasp and pull the baby\u2019s arms and legs, tearing the limbs from the child\u2019s body. The abortionist continues to grasp intestines, spine, heart, lungs, and any other limbs or body parts. The most difficult part of the procedure is usually finding, grasping and crushing the baby\u2019s head. After removing pieces of the child\u2019s skull, the abortionist uses a curette to scrape the uterus and remove the placenta and any remaining parts of the baby.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-government\/2015\/09\/21\/hillary-clinton-falsely-claims-late-term-abortions-occur-medical-necessity\/\">claims<\/a> that late-term abortions are only done out of \u201cmedical necessity.\u201d <a href=\"\/news\/dublin-declaration-abortion-is-not-medically-necessary\/\">They\u2019re not<\/a>. Staff at <a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/inhuman\/inhuman-undercover-in-americas-late-term-abortion-industry-new-mexico\/#more-1127\">Southwestern Women\u2019s Options<\/a> offered to perform a 27 week <a title=\"Induction Abortion\" href=\"http:\/\/www.abortionprocedures.com\/induction\/\" target=\"_blank\">induction abortion<\/a> for a woman who was\u00a0\u201cabout a month off\u201d in estimating her pregnancy. And unlike their supporters, they apparently have no doubts on whether a fetus is human: 2 minutes into the recording below, one of them refers to\u00a0 \u201cthe baby\u201d they&#8217;re planning to abort.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uCX-tLqETpk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/archive.lifenews.com\/state3469.html\">Gary Cross<\/a> also wasn\u2019t concerned about medical necessities when he asked Planned Parenthood to arrange a 20 week abortion for his 13 year-old stepdaughter&#8211;he was concerned about staying out of prison. Cross wanted to hide the fact he raped the girl after her mother noticed she was gaining weight; Planned Parenthood was able to accommodate.<\/p>\n<p>The idea that animals should be protected from torture isn&#8217;t controversial. NFL star Michael Vicks spent 23 months in federal prison for running a dog fighting ring, and outrage followed after Vicks&#8217; habit of drowning, hanging, and electrocuting animals came to light. When a baby can be dismembered without a similar response, something is clearly wrong.<\/p>\n<p>You can help change that by backing<a href=\"\/news\/mississippi-house-votes-ban-dismemberment-abortions\/\"> legislation<\/a> to restrict late-term abortion. You can also <a href=\"http:\/\/plannedparenthoodexposed.com\/\">tell Congress<\/a> that Planned Parenthood\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2015\/10\/14\/4-ways-planned-parenthood-has-billed-taxpayers-for-elective-abortions\/\">funding<\/a> should go to <a href=\"http:\/\/getyourcare.org\/\">federally qualified health centers<\/a> (FQHCs) and<a href=\"\/news\/new-website-shows-women-have-more-choices-besides-planned-parenthood-for-low-cost-health-care\/\"> community health centers<\/a> (CHCs) instead.<\/p>\n<p>A century ago, the same activists tried to protect both animals and children from violence. The American Humane Association recounts the story of child abuse survivor Mary Ellen Wilson <a title=\"Mary Ellen Wilson\" href=\"http:\/\/www.americanhumane.org\/about-us\/who-we-are\/history\/mary-ellen-wilson.html\" target=\"_blank\">on its website<\/a>, explaining that a concerned adult was advised to seek help for the girl from animal rights activists as she was \u201ca little animal surely.\u201d While I\u2019m convinced that children aren\u2019t animals, I agree that they deserve at least as much protection.
