My Life.\" href=\"http:\/\/myabortionmylife.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cMy Abortion.\u00a0 My Life.\u201d<\/a> campaign created by a <a href=\"http:\/\/preterm.org\/services\/abortion-services.php\" target=\"_blank\">2nd trimester<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/myabortionmylife.org\/pages\/about-preterm.php\" target=\"_blank\">abortion clinic<\/a> in Cleveland uses all the \u201cright\u201d, compassionate terms to pull women in.\u00a0 They talk about how one woman can change the world; how the silence needs to be broken; how no woman should have to feel shame alone for what she\u2019s done.\u00a0 Sounds empowering, right?<\/p>\n<p>But what \u201cMy Abortion.\u00a0 My Life.\u201d <em>really<\/em> does is promote a whole lot of lies.\u00a0 Instead of telling women the truth so they don\u2019t make the same mistake again; instead of letting them talk about their abortion so they can receive any emotional healing or help they might need; instead of mourning with them for the loss of their children, this website tries to entrench women ever further in their <em>absolute right<\/em> to have an abortion.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what both shocks and saddens me:\u00a0 if we were to take any other moral issue our society as a whole deems unacceptable and try to help men or women be proud and unashamed about what they\u2019ve done, how schizophrenic would that be?\u00a0 What kind of an outcry would be raised about a website for murderers:\u00a0 \u201cMy Murder; My Life\u201d?\u00a0 How about serial thieves or armed robbers:\u00a0 \u201cMy Holdup; My Life\u201d?\u00a0 Or yes, what about extra-marital affairs:\u00a0 \u201cMy Affair; My Life\u201d?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Taking one woman\u2019s story off the site as a guide, here\u2019s how \u201cMy Affair; My Life\u201d might be written:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\" align=\"center\"><em>\u201cThe judgmental will say I\u2019m cold or heartless, but an affair was an easy decision for me.\u00a0 After all, I\u2019m in no position to stay committed to one person for life\u2014even after making a promise.\u00a0 Plus, I\u2019ve been raised to believe that women are smart, moral creatures.\u00a0 Naturally, any decision I make falls into the category of smart and moral.\u00a0 I was treated kindly and well during my affair.\u00a0 Several years later, I had another one.\u00a0 This time, I made sure my husband knew I\u2019d be starting another affair.\u00a0 Again, I was treated kindly and well.\u00a0 I remain healthy, happy, and grateful that I had the right to control my own life.\u00a0 It is unthinkable to me that millions of women are not able to control their own lives.\u00a0 Why would women not be considered intelligent enough or moral enough to be entrusted with such an intrinsic part of ourselves?\u00a0 Why are we so devalued as to be worth killing in the name of ideology?\u00a0 My Affair; My Life.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If this kind of language were applied to issues like affairs, murders, kidnapping, carjacking, robbery, and more, there would be a public outcry.\u00a0 But with abortion, too many seem to think that women should be lauded and praised\u2014or at least left alone and unchallenged\u2014for their decision.\u00a0 Instead, women should be told the truth about their tiny baby, led to resources to help them keep or give their child in adoption, and helped to emotional and physical healing.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the real truth about several phrases that \u201cMy Abortion.\u00a0 My Life.\u201d is using:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">LIE:\u00a0 <em>Ending the silence, one story at a time.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">TRUTH:\u00a0 <em>Perpetuating the silence, one story at a time.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">LIE:\u00a0 <em>It\u2019s about creating a new language around abortion.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">TRUTH:\u00a0 <em>It\u2019s about telling even more lies about abortion in the hopes of making it seem acceptable.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">LIE:\u00a0 <em>Abortion is a normal and necessary part of many women\u2019s lives.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">TRUTH:\u00a0 <em>Killing your child is a very abnormal choice for a mother and not necessary at all because of the many people and resources who are available to help.\u00a0 There are many pregnancy resources centers and adoptive couples who would do everything in their power to help a woman.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">LIE:\u00a0 <em>My Abortion.\u00a0 My Life.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">TRUTH:\u00a0 <em>My Abortion.\u00a0 My Baby\u2019s Life.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The \u201cMy Abortion.\u00a0 My Life.\u201d campaign created by a 2nd trimester abortion clinic in Cleveland uses all the \u201cright\u201d, compassionate terms to pull women in.\u00a0 They talk about how one woman can change the world;
