As Live Action\u2019s Calvin Freiburger reported<\/a>, Donald Trump has made some confusing statements about Planned Parenthood. Again<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite having pledged<\/a> to fully defund the group, Trump seemed to imply funding could continue if the money didn\u2019t support Planned Parenthood’s abortion services. In an interview last month on \u201cMeet the Press,\u201d the presidential candidate got this question<\/a> from Chuck Todd…<\/p>\n

Democrats will say that money they give to Planned Parenthood does not go to abortions, that the money they give to Planned Parenthood only goes to other women\u2019s health including mammograms and things like that. If you knew the government money were only going to that, would you support funding Planned Parenthood?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Trump’s response wasn’t the clearest. He initially said, \u201cYeah, if it didn\u2019t have to do with abortions,\u201d and then went on to tout the \u201cvery good work\u201d on \u201clot\u2019s of women\u2019s issues\u201d that his \u201cmany, many\u201d female friends say Planned Parenthood does.\u00a0While that seems to imply he would continue funding Planned Parenthood’s non-abortion related activities, Trump followed with this:<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood does a lot of good, does a really good job on a lot of different areas, but not on abortion. So I am not gonna fund it if it\u2019s doing the abortion. I am not gonna fund it. Now they say it\u2019s three percent, and it\u2019s four percent, some people say it\u2019s sixty percent. I don\u2019t believe it\u2019s sixty percent, by the way, I think it\u2019s probably a much lower number. But Planned Parenthood does some very good work. But I would defund as long as they\u2019re doing abortions.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

A few things should be clarified here. One is that contrary to what Chuck Todd says, Planned Parenthood doesn\u2019t do mammograms<\/a>. It does do abortions, however–over three hundred thousand<\/a> every year.<\/p>\n

According to Planned Parenthood, tax dollars don’t subsidize their abortion business, as the money can only be used for other purposes. While that might be true in theory, the graphic below explains how well it works in practice:<\/p>\n

Further, far from threatening women\u2019s access to healthcare, defunding Planned Parenthood could actually improve it (more on that later). But while women wouldn\u2019t be negatively impacted, there are definitely some men<\/i> who\u2019d have big problems if Planned Parenthood wasn\u2019t around.<\/p>\n

Although sexual abuse is often hard to detect, warning signs can crop up. Colorado\u2019s Office of Children, Youth, & Families explains that when a child under fourteen \u201cbecomes pregnant or contracts a venereal disease<\/a>,\u201d it\u2019s time to get suspicious. Timothy Smith understood that, which is why he brought his thirteen year-old stepdaughter to Planned Parenthood for an abortion after getting her pregnant. Thankfully for him, staff there weren\u2019t too concerned; one later explained that \u201cbeing thirteen and pregnant alone is not a red flag<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smith wasn\u2019t unique; fellow child rapists Luis Gonzalez-Jose<\/a>, John Blanks, Jr.<\/a>, Adam Gault<\/a>, Joseph Coles<\/a>, Kevon Walker<\/a>, Edgar Ramirez<\/a>, and Grey David Woods<\/a> obtained coverup abortions from Planned Parenthood too.<\/p>\n

Alleged serial rapist Tyler Kost appears to have gotten a hand without even knowing it. When one of his alleged victims went to Planned Parenthood, she was told that reporting the assault would involve too much work. The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has said an investigation could have been opened months earlier<\/a> if a report had been filed.<\/p>\n

That lack of concern at Planned Parenthood is something Live Action investigators have repeatedly documented.
