Test for low blood sugar? Lance boils? How about stick rusty objects in people? If you see the name \u201cWhole Woman\u2019s Health,\u201d then <a title=\"Long history of health violations at abortion chain suing over pro-life law\" href=\"\/news\/long-history-of-health-violations-at-abortion-chain-suing-over-pro-life-law\/\" target=\"_blank\">guess number three<\/a> is your best bet.<\/p>\n<p>Whole Woman\u2019s Health (WWH) owns facilities\u00a0in multiple states. Despite the name, their services are pretty limited: they won\u2019t remove stitches or give you an inhaler. So what <em>will<\/em> they do? According to <a title=\"A Message From Our Founder\" href=\"http:\/\/wholewomanshealth.com\/a-message-from-our-founder.html\" target=\"_blank\">their website<\/a>, they \u201cprovide fabulous abortion care.\u201d Providing \u201csafe and sanitary equipment\u201d isn\u2019t as big of a priority.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-87872\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/whole-womens-health-abortion-clinic-inspection-oct-2013.jpg\" alt=\"whole-womens-health-abortion-clinic-inspection-oct-2013\" width=\"833\" height=\"650\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/whole-womens-health-abortion-clinic-inspection-oct-2013.jpg 833w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/whole-womens-health-abortion-clinic-inspection-oct-2013-300x234.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/whole-womens-health-abortion-clinic-inspection-oct-2013-768x599.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/whole-womens-health-abortion-clinic-inspection-oct-2013-700x546.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 833px) 100vw, 833px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what the Texas Department of State Health Services found, anyway. A 2013 inspection of WWH&#8217;s center in Beaumont <a href=\"http:\/\/www.texasallianceforlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported\/issues\/hb2\/DSHS_inspection_WWH_Beaumont_10_03_2013.pdf\">revealed<\/a> \u201cnumerous rusty spots on the suction machines,\u201d something that \u201chad the likelihood to cause infection.\u201d They also noted the potential for \u201crodents to enter the facility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These weren\u2019t the first problems in Beaumont: a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.texasallianceforlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported\/issues\/hb2\/DSHS_inspection_WWH_Beaumont_12_19_2012.pdf\">2012 inspection<\/a> revealed \u201cinfection control issues\u201d as staff didn\u2019t \u201cperform the correct procedure for the sterilization of the surgical instruments.\u201d Back in 2007, WWH <a href=\"http:\/\/abortiondocs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/TX-Abortion-Clinics-Violations-and-Enforcement-Actions6.pdf\">was fined<\/a> for not having \u201ca midlevel provider, a registered nurse, or a \u00a0licensed vocational nurse\u201d there either:<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mz-sSpCqguc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Meanwhile, WWH\u2019s San Antonio facility <a href=\"http:\/\/www.texasallianceforlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported\/issues\/hb2\/DSHS_inspection_WWH_San_Antonio_08_29_2013.pdf\">lacked<\/a> \u201cacceptable environmental controls in cleaning and preparing instruments for sterilization.\u201d Of WWH\u2019s five centers in the state, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.texasrighttolife.com\/about\/1113\/Texas-abortion-industry-violates-safety-standards-denounces-higher-precautions\">four of them<\/a> racked up multiple violations.<\/p>\n<p>But WWH isn\u2019t the only outfit in Texas to operate this way; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.texasrighttolife.com\/a\/1003\/Lax-abortion-standards-put-women-at-risk-of-infection-death#.VsEmJ-Z3WSo\">inspection reports<\/a> show that over a dozen others have gotten similar citations. And substandard abortion centers\u00a0certainly aren\u2019t unique to the Lone Star state.<\/p>\n<p>Jayne Mitchell-Werbrich and Joyce Vasikonis learned that when they worked at Planned Parenthood of Delaware. During a 2013<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalrighttolifenews.org\/news\/2013\/07\/former-nurse-at-planned-parenthood-of-delawares-wilmington-abortion-clinic-compares-it-to-gosnells-house-of-horrors\/#.VQhd_-HYrfm\"> state legislative hearing<\/a>, the two nurses described their workplace as a \u201cmeat market\u201d where women were exposed to bloody tables and unsterilized equipment. The facility\u2019s former director, Melody Meanor, testified that drugs were mishandled and patients weren\u2019t informed of positive STD tests. Planned Parenthood also employed Dr. Timothy F. Liveright there, an abortionist who\u2019s been hit with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.delmarvanow.com\/article\/20130531\/NEWS01\/130531001\/DELAWARE-Complaint-filed-against-former-Planned-Parenthood-abortion-doctor\">multiple complaints<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5C1-4mCfL_A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Dr. Steven C. Brigham has gotten his share too. After he inflicted<a href=\"http:\/\/rhrealitycheck.org\/article\/2014\/10\/09\/rogue-abortion-providers-medical-license-revoked\/\"> serious injuries<\/a> on a patient in 2010, authorities in Maryland discovered that Brigham lacked a state medical license and had been storing fetuses in a freezer. There have been plenty <a href=\"http:\/\/articles.courant.com\/2000-10-17\/news\/0010172771_1_blumenfeld-medical-technician-jury\">of other<\/a> abortionists who&#8217;ve also harmed women, with one getting international attention.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Kermit Gosnell made headlines when Bhutanese refugee<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/Gosnell-Abortion-Worker-Drugs-Given-Woman-Murder-202210561.html\"> Karnamaya Mongar<\/a> died from a Demerol overdose at his Philadelphia abortion facility. For years, Gosnell ran a filthy environment that used dirty equipment and unqualified personnel. When paramedics arrived, they found that the building\u2019s elevator was broken and the emergency exit had been locked.<\/p>\n<p>How did Gosnell get away with that for so long? Pennsylvania\u2019s hands-off approach to abortion\u00a0facilities\u00a0definitely helped: the subsequent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phila.gov\/districtattorney\/PDFs\/GrandJuryWomensMedical.pdf\">grand jury report<\/a> mentioned that nail salons faced more oversight.<\/p>\n<p>Even some in the abortion industry will acknowledge that dangerous conditions are prevalent. One of them is the CEO of StemExpress, Cate Dyer.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cz1gRNPgMvE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>StemExpress acquires human body parts from abortion facilities and supplies them to researchers. In undercover footage released by the <a href=\"http:\/\/centerformedicalprogress.org\/\">Center for Medical Progress<\/a>, she <a title=\"Bonus offer: Have an abortion, get a free staph infection, too.\" href=\"\/news\/bonus-offer-abortion-get-free-staph-infection\/\" target=\"_blank\">admitted<\/a> that those facilities can pose a major hazard:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>SE:<\/b> We\u2019ll do testing on our side, so we\u2019ll be able to see, you know. And sometimes we\u2019ll find that it can be clinic-specific. I\u2019ve seen really rampant, rampant problems with bacteria in certain clinics. [laughter] Some where you\u2019re kind of in question of should they really, you know, [laughing]<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>Buyer:<\/b> Right.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>SE:<\/b> I\u2019ve seen staph come out of clinics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>Buyer:<\/b> Wow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b>SE:<\/b> So, I mean, I\u2019ve seen all sorts of things come out of clinics, so.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>To protect women, Texas passed legislation in 2013 holding abortion facilities\u00a0to the same standards as other surgical facilities. It also required abortionists to have admitting privileges at a local hospital.<\/p>\n<p>While these are common sense moves, they promptly faced <a title=\"Should we really trust abortionists to have women\u2019s best interests at heart?\" href=\"\/news\/trust-abortionists-womens-best-interests-heart\/\" target=\"_blank\">a court challenge<\/a>. From who? Why from Whole Woman\u2019s Health, of course. When she isn&#8217;t touting how <a title=\"Pro-abortion group: \u201cTalk about how men benefit from abortion\u201d\" href=\"\/news\/pro-abortion-group-talk-men-benefit-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\">men can benefit from abortion<\/a>, WWH&#8217;s founder is fighting against improved standards.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court is set to begin hearing oral arguments in WWH&#8217;s case on March 2.\u00a0 Whatever the outcome, one thing is clear: while it&#8217;s tough to see anything \u201cfabulous\u201d about abortion, the use of unsanitary equipment in a building with \u201cinfection control issues\u201d definitely isn&#8217;t it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Let&#8217;s say you walk by a building with the word \u201cclinic\u201d on it&#8211;what do you think they do in there?
