Doctors, who said they could fit E\u2019Layah in their palms when she was born, were not sure she would survive, and they prepared E\u2019Layah\u2019s parents for the worst. However, her mother never gave up hope, and E\u2019Layah proved to be a fighter.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/LevineChildrens\/status\/697179412765102080\/photo\/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw<\/p>\n<p>Smith told <a href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Health\/north-carolina-hospital-celebrates-worlds-smallest-babies-born\/story?id=36009570\">ABC News<\/a> that they gave E\u2019Layah the middle name of Faith because she and her fianc\u00e9 would always have faith and would never give up on their daughter. Doctors expect that she will have a normal, healthy life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to know who she is,\u201d said Smith. \u201cShe is feisty. I\u2019m ready to see what\u2019s in store.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Advances in ventilator care and IV nutrition are being credited with saving the lives of an increasing number of premature babies. Abortion advocates consistently argue that late-term abortion is necessary in order to save the lives of pregnant women facing health issues.
