{"id":87885,"date":"2016-02-15T16:42:24","date_gmt":"2016-02-15T21:42:24","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=87885"},"modified":"2016-02-15T16:42:24","modified_gmt":"2016-02-15T21:42:24","slug":"pro-abortion-ky-rep-protests-abortion-law-proposing-viagra-regulations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-abortion-ky-rep-protests-abortion-law-proposing-viagra-regulations\/","title":{"rendered":"Pro-abortion KY rep protests abortion law by proposing Viagra regulations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Democratic State Representative Mary Lou Marzian is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.courier-journal.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2016\/02\/12\/want-viagra-not-without-note-wife\/80294772\/#\">protesting<\/a> pro-life informed consent laws by introducing a bill in the Kentucky House of Representatives which would place a variety of strict limits on men&#8217;s ability to obtain Viagra.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/online\/ky-pol-pushes-bill-to-require-men-to-get-notes-from-their-wives-for-viagra\/\">According to<\/a> HB 396, men could only access the erectile dysfunction drug if they are married, have two separate doctors&#8217; office visits beforehand, present a signed consent letter from their wives, and swear on a Bible that they will only use it to have sex with with their wives.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->&#8220;This is about family values,&#8221; Marzian said sarcastically, going on to admit that the bill is not a serious proposal, but an analogue to what she sees as the intrusive SB4, the bill recently signed into law which <a href=\"\/news\/ky-governor-expected-to-sign-new-informed-consent-abortion-bill\/\">mandates a consultation<\/a> 24 hours prior to an abortion. She argued that her bill illustrates abortion defenders&#8217; objections to informed consent legislation: &#8220;Do we really want a bunch or legislators interfering in private, personal, medical decisions?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pro-abortion politicians have proposed similar Viagra bills in other states, most recently in South Carolina.
