I have been actively pro-life for many\u00a0years. As an undergraduate at\u00a0Fordham University, I was part of the Respect Life club on my campus, and I was a contributor to Live Action News. But, I was seeking\u00a0an opportunity to deepen my experience and advocacy in the pro-life movement.<\/p>\n

In 2014, I decided to apply for an internship at\u00a0Live Action<\/a>‘s headquarters in Washington, D.C., and the experience taught me so much about the pro-life movement, as well as about personal responsibility.<\/p>\n

Being in the D.C. area, this was the first time I had lived outside of New York State. I learned responsibility, not just from living on my own as an independent adult, but through\u00a0interaction with others in an office setting.<\/p>\n

A Live Action internship<\/a> is not an average one\u2014 it is\u00a0a tremendous blessing to be in the thick of the pro-life movement.<\/p>\n

During my experience, I had the\u00a0ability\u00a0to reach out to\u00a0Live Action supporters via e-mail, Facebook messages, and on the phone.\u00a0I remember communicating (and still keep in touch) with a young woman who messaged us through Facebook. She was considering abortion, but gave birth to a\u00a0beautiful baby boy. It is truly amazing seeing smiling pictures of him on Facebook as he grows up.\u00a0On the other had,\u00a0I recall offering a woman words of comfort, as\u00a0her younger relative\u00a0had\u00a0committed suicide following her abortion.<\/p>\n

During my time as an intern, I had real duties to perform, which kept me busy during the day. I assisted with donor information, processed orders for Live Action’s magazine,\u00a0The Advocate,\u00a0<\/em>and encouraged students and schools to order the magazine. I also helped process applications for incoming interns.<\/p>\n

Although\u00a0I had been writing for roughly\u00a0two years, the\u00a0workshops and the opportunity to write regularly for Live Action News\u00a0helped me\u00a0strengthen my skills as a\u00a0journalist.\u00a0Whether you’re just starting out with journalism, or have already been working for a few years, there is always something to be learned and improved upon.<\/p>\n

I also\u00a0had the opportunity to\u00a0meet, interact, and work with Live Action President Lila Rose. This pro-life icon is one of the kindest\u00a0and most down-to-earth people I have ever met\u2014 in addition to her being an inspirational figure.<\/p>\n

Then, there is the opportunity to be on the ground.\u00a0I represented Live Action at\u00a0the Students for Life conference, and, of course, joined\u00a0the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C.\u00a0I even talked to reporters\u00a0from\u00a0Vice,\u00a0<\/em>who were interviewing Lila!<\/p>\n

The internship has ended, but I’m back to writing for the pro-life movement, with even more experience to guide me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
