On Thursday, Center for Medical Progress\u00a0Project Lead\u00a0David Daleiden posted bail<\/a> in Harris County, Texas, for charges against him rising from his work to expose Planned Parenthood’s harvesting of\u00a0organs from aborted babies.<\/p>\n

Daleiden and fellow pro-life activist, Sandra Merritt, were indicted last month on charges of using a fake identification with\u00a0Daleiden facing an additional charge of\u00a0attempting to purchase human tissue.<\/p>\n

“If David\u2019s investigation had revealed evidence of criminal conduct in a meatpacking plant, his freedom would not be threatened. The videos would be seen as providing a valuable public benefit and prosecutors would act on the information,\u201d Life Legal Defense Foundation attorney Alexandra Snyder said, denouncing the charges. \u201cWe are confident that other agencies will take an objective look at Planned Parenthood\u2019s willingness to engage in illegal activity, including altering the abortion procedure to obtain intact fetal cadavers, that is clearly evident in the videos.”<\/p>\n

Snyder went on to explain that the fake ID charge “is the same charge that would be leveled at a minor who used a fake ID to purchase alcohol. However, the law also provides a defense where the false information has ‘no effect on the government\u2019s purpose for requiring the governmental record.'”<\/p>\n

As Live Action News has previously reported<\/a>, Daleiden’s defenders have also noted that the tissue sale statute he is accused of violating requires intent to go through with the transaction for guilt, yet his only intent was to capture whether\u00a0Planned Parenthood officials would agree\u00a0to illegal activity on camera.<\/p>\n
