{"id":86676,"date":"2016-01-29T18:15:48","date_gmt":"2016-01-29T23:15:48","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=86676"},"modified":"2016-02-01T16:49:33","modified_gmt":"2016-02-01T21:49:33","slug":"kentucky-governor-orders-planned-parenthood-stop-committing-abortions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/kentucky-governor-orders-planned-parenthood-stop-committing-abortions\/","title":{"rendered":"Kentucky governor orders Planned Parenthood to stop committing abortions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin (R) has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wlky.com\/news\/bevin-orders-planned-parenthood-clinic-to-stop-performing-abortions\/37710334\">sent a letter<\/a> to Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky, ordering their new Louisville, KY, abortion facility\u00a0to stop committing\u00a0abortions due to a permit application which was &#8220;deficient for multiple reasons&#8221; pertaining to hospital agreement and ambulatory transport preparations for complications.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->&#8220;There is no tolerance whatsoever for people in the commonwealth of Kentucky disregarding the law,\u201d Bevin told reporters, accusing Planned Parenthood of illegally performing abortions without proper credentials. \u201cThey are unlicensed, they are doing it knowingly, and they are going to be brought to justice on this front.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-84611 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/NewDefundAd3.jpg\" alt=\"NewDefundAd3\" width=\"400\" height=\"170\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/NewDefundAd3.jpg 400w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/NewDefundAd3-300x128.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A Kentucky new station <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wave3.com\/story\/31084668\/new-planned-parenthood-location-in-louisville-starts-performing-abortions\">reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Bevin&#8217;s office has asserted that Planned Parenthood is\u00a0&#8220;openly and knowingly operating an unlicensed abortion facility in clear violation of the law.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;We will use the full force of the Commonwealth to put a stop to this,&#8221; Bevin said in a statement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>PPIK admits it committed\u00a0abortions during the period in question, but spokeswoman Maureen Manier contends they were under the impression that they were permitted during the application process.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were under the impression, from what we had been told, that we were operating in accordance with the procedures of the Office of the Inspector General,\u201d she said, a claim the Bevin administration is investigating.
