{"id":85982,"date":"2016-01-21T14:11:09","date_gmt":"2016-01-21T19:11:09","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=85982"},"modified":"2016-01-21T14:36:51","modified_gmt":"2016-01-21T19:36:51","slug":"wisconsin-senate-votes-defund-planned-parenthood-cut-7-5-million-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wisconsin-senate-votes-defund-planned-parenthood-cut-7-5-million-funding\/","title":{"rendered":"Wisconsin Senate votes to defund Planned Parenthood, cut $7.5 million in funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>The Wisconsin State Senate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wisn.com\/politics\/wisconsin-senate-passes-cuts-to-planned-parenthood\/37547956\">has voted<\/a> to pass two bills that would eliminate a combined $7.5 million in state funding for Planned Parenthood.<\/p>\n<p>One bill limits abortion providers to billing Medicaid only for birth control&#8217;s actual acquisition costs and dispensing fees, cutting an estimated $4.5 million from Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin annually, while the other renders PPWI ineligible for federal Title X grant money, cutting another $3 million from the abortion giant.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The latter bill would redirect the money to the state Well Women health program instead of eliminating it outright.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We can go and give more money for these important, critical health services,&#8221; Republican Senator and chief bill sponsor Chris Kapenga responded. &#8220;Why would you not get behind this bill?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-84611 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/NewDefundAd3.jpg\" alt=\"NewDefundAd3\" width=\"400\" height=\"170\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/NewDefundAd3.jpg 400w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/NewDefundAd3-300x128.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Senate voted 18-14 for the first bill, sending to the state Assembly for consideration. The second passed 19-14, and having already passed the Assembly in September, now goes on to Governor Scott Walker&#8217;s desk.<\/p>\n<p>Walker, who is pro-life, is expected to sign both bills.
