Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games<\/em>, Pitch Perfect 2<\/em>), Bellamy Young\u00a0(Scandal<\/em>), Dascha Polanco (Orange Is the New Black<\/em>), and Retta (Parks and Recreation<\/em>)\u00a0are among the group of celebrities that have teamed up with the Center for Reproductive Rights to create a series of videos<\/a> promoting women’s abortion stories.<\/p>\n

The Draw the Line videos\u00a0are short monologues which feature the actresses telling the story of other women’s abortions in first person. This approach is intended to be “more personal and emotional” than a typical ad or public service announcement would be.\u00a0The stories\u00a0chosen describe\u00a0various scenarios in which women chose to abort their babies, and the reasons are just as varied.<\/p>\n

Rebecca’s story<\/a>,\u00a0as told by Elizabeth Banks, details a woman’s\u00a0decision to abort her baby because the baby’s\u00a0father was\u00a0physically abusive – and ignores the significance\u00a0of the child’s life. “I told [my friend]\u00a0I could not have my abuser\u2019s baby. I could not create a life with such a hateful man,” Rebecca says. “What I remember the most about my experience is how the women in my life stepped up to support the decision I was choosing to make, because the life they were most concerned about was mine.”<\/p>\n
