The book Abortion at Work: Ideology and Practice in\u00a0a Feminist Clinic<\/em> was written by from a pro-abortion perspective by feminist Wendy Simonds. She has a chapter devoted to how the abortion\u00a0workers battled with\u00a0pro-life\u00a0demonstrators who picketed the facility\u00a0and tried to close it with mass demonstrations. She calls these pro-life activists “antis,” standing for “anti-choice,” a term sometimes used by abortion supporters\u00a0to label pro-lifers. But among her many interviews with abortion facility\u00a0workers, there are some very candid admissions.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In one chapter, she deals with the emotional impact of abortion on abortion\u00a0workers. She quotes one worker, whom she identifies as \u201cCelia,” discussing late-term abortions. In the following quote, Celia is talking about injecting fully developed preborn babies’ hearts with digoxin, a poison used by some abortion clinics to kill the baby prior to expulsion or dismemberment (depending on what type of abortion is being performed). \u00a0It can be injected into the amniotic fluid causing slow death, or into the baby’s heart, causing a somewhat quicker, but still painful death. Here is the quote:<\/a><\/p>\n

\n

It\u2019s going to be weird now because you\u2019re going to see the [sonogram.]\u00a0You\u2019re going to see the heart beating \u2013 little hearts, you know- and then, all of a sudden, you\u2019re going to put this cardiac medicine in it to make it stop- to kill it. I won\u2019t kill it, the doctor will kill it \u2026 It\u2019s just a harder reality check of what we\u2019re doing\u2026 It\u2019s like rationally I know this is going to be much better because, God, you know, if it can make a twenty-three-week skull come out easier, you know bless this digoxin.\u201d(21)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The pro-life slogan “abortion stops a beating heart” is relevant here.\u00a0\u00a0Celia is able to witness the exact moment when the preborn babies’ hearts stop beating.<\/p>\n

It is interesting how she shifts the blame halfway through – it’s not her doing the killing, it’s the abortionist. \u00a0She makes sure to tell the interviewer (and herself) this. \u00a0Technically, of course, she is right. But she is participating in the abortions and allowing them to continue. As an abortion facility worker, she is a vital part of the facility, which\u00a0cannot exist without its workers. Therefore, she is complicit in each abortion – whether she wants to admit it or not.<\/p>\n

Here is a sonogram of a 21-week-old preborn baby, two weeks shy of the 23-week age Celia gives for the children she watches being murdered.<\/p>\n

These are fully formed babies. \u00a0According to the Endowment for Human Development<\/a>, the baby responds to touch,<\/a>\u00a0can hear and respond to sounds<\/a>,\u00a0\u00a0shows a preference for either the right or left <\/a>hand, and has a functioning brain<\/a>.\u00a0 The baby sleeps and wakes, and actually has dreams.\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0At this stage, many researchers believe the preborn baby can feel pain.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Perhaps the most shocking part of the quote is\u00a0the abortion\u00a0worker’s casual “God bless the digoxin.” Because she thinks it makes tearing apart and extracting the preborn baby easier, she is praising a poison used to kill an innocent human being.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
