It’s that time of year again. A pro-life\u00a0group specializing in law and advocacy, Americans United for Life, released their 2016 Life List<\/a>. The list ranks and analyzes in an executive summary <\/a>the best and worst states for pro-life gains from the previous year.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0“Most Protective” States included:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Oklahoma<\/li>\n
  2. Kansas<\/li>\n
  3. Louisiana<\/li>\n
  4. Arkansas<\/li>\n
  5. Mississippi<\/li>\n
  6. Nebraska<\/li>\n
  7. Indiana<\/li>\n
  8. North Dakota<\/li>\n
  9. Missouri<\/li>\n
  10. Texas<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Louisiana slipped to third place after previously being ranked the most pro-life state in the nation. AUL also printed a summary of state legislative efforts half-way through 2015. The summary explains the action Oklahoma took:<\/p>\n

    \n

    Oklahoma enacted SB 642 based on AUL\u2019s Enforcement Module, providing civil and criminal remedies for violations of the state\u2019s abortion-related laws and mandating more comprehensive inspections of abortion facilities.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

    Late last year, Oklahoma governor Mary Fallin called for an end <\/a>to funding Planned Parenthood<\/a>, as Live Action News reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    \"aul,<\/a>Three of the top states were also honored as pro-life “All Stars” – Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas for enacting legislation based on AUL models.<\/p>\n

    Such models include the Infants’ Protection Project <\/a>and the Women’s Protection Project.<\/a><\/p>\n

    The\u00a0“Least Protective” States included:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Washington<\/li>\n
    2. Vermont<\/li>\n
    3. New Jersey<\/li>\n
    4. California<\/li>\n
    5. Oregon<\/li>\n
    6. Nevada<\/li>\n
    7. New York<\/li>\n
    8. Hawaii<\/li>\n
    9. Connecticut<\/li>\n
    10. Wyoming<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Washington has been ranked the worst state for the past 7 years. Many in the bottom ten are known to pro-lifers for their pro-abortion legislation.<\/p>\n

      California made the list for its last minute, desperate, but unfortunately successful attempt to legalize assisted suicide<\/a>. It also continued an alarming trend of attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers<\/a> by requiring them to advertise abortion.<\/p>\n

      \"fetus-prenatal\"<\/a>New York’s inclusion was unsurprising. Live Action News reported <\/a>on the state’s expansion of third trimester abortions – a procedure that is deeply unpopular with the American public. At least one pro-abortion effort was defeated in New York, however. As AUL noted<\/a>:<\/p>\n

      Situation was not made worse by the enactment of the Women\u2019s Equality Act (which sought to invalidate all current and future protective, abortion-related laws). AUL helped to defeat this measure (for the second year in a row).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
