There has been an awakening. Have you felt it?<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re like me, then the answers is, \u201cNo, not really.\u201d While Star Wars: The Force Awakens<\/i> has opened to much enthusiasm, I can\u2019t say I\u2019m gripped by it. Katherine Timpf isn\u2019t either: in November, the media personality said she had no \u201cinterest in watching space nerds poke each other\u201d since she\u2019s \u201ctoo busy liking cool things and being attractive.\u201d<\/p>\n

To me, this was a little harsh; I\u2019m not a huge Star Wars<\/i> fan, but I\u2019m not going to mock those who are. Or at least I thought<\/i> it was harsh, anyway. That changed<\/a> when some of Timpf\u2019s critics put the term into perspective: one wanted to \u201ccut that blonde c***\u2019s face off,\u201d while others hoped she would get raped, hit by a car, doused with acid, or beaten to death.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Of course, Ms. Timpf isn’t the only one to experience this sort of hate. Anyone who\u2019s spent much time discussing abortion will know that children are often the targets of it:<\/p>\n

So are women who reject abortion:<\/p>\n

How should one respond? Well, sometimes a direct answer<\/a> is best. This time, however, I\u2019m going to ignore the haters and address the targets of their wrath. Because while some of our opponents are happy to call them names like \u201cstupid bitch\u201d and \u201cwhore,\u201d pro-lifers have a different agenda for new moms.<\/p>\n

We want to help.<\/p>\n

A surprise baby can present some real challenges, but the folks at OptionLine<\/a> don\u2019t want you to face them alone. OptionLine.org<\/a> is a website featuring bilingual information along with representatives you can chat with. And if you\u2019re not online, you can still access its services by texting the word \u201cHELPLINE\u201d to 313131.<\/p>\n

Those services include helping you find a pregnancy care center. Pregnancy care centers are places where expectant women can go when they\u2019re in vulnerable circumstances. One of the largest center networks is called Care-Net<\/a>. Across the country, its local affiliates provide women with free pregnancy tests, pregnancy information, and material resources. Some locations also offer consultations with licensed medical professionals, ultrasounds for pregnancy confirmation, and testing for sexually transmitted infections. Finally, center staff can talk about your choices.<\/p>\n

For some women, adoption is the choice that suits them best. And while there\u2019s currently a shortage<\/a> of adoptable infants in America, there\u2019s no shortage of aspiring parents. Many seek what\u2019s known as an \u201copen adoption<\/a>,\u201d an arrangement in which the birth mom is known to the parents and may play a role in the child\u2019s life. One place you can meet them is Adoption.com<\/a>. It\u2019s a site where couples who\u2019ve been approved by a licensed adoption agency can create an online profile<\/a>, complete with pictures, contact info, and a personal bio explaining what they have to offer.<\/p>\n

Pro-lifers want to help at the legislative level as well. That includes telling Congress to redirect over half a billion<\/a> dollars in taxpayer funding from Planned Parenthood (America’s largest abortion chain<\/a>) to Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)<\/a> instead. Unlike Planned Parenthood, FQHCs haven\u2019t helped sexual abusers<\/a> hide their crimes with cover-up abortions. What have they done? Well, last year, FQHCs furnished women with more than five hundred thousand<\/a> mammograms. Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood performed zero<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You can can add your voice to that effort by signing Live Action\u2019s petition. It\u2019s available here<\/a>, along with more proof of Planned Parenthood\u2019s wrongdoing.
