This video may just change the abortion debate.<\/p>\n<p>Posted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/liveaction\/\">Live Action<\/a> on Wednesday, February 24, 2016<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--more-->Former abortionist Dr. Bernard Nathanson, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncregister.com\/daily-news\/bernard-nathanson-dead-at-84\/\" target=\"_blank\">who died in 2011<\/a>,\u00a0made two films showing\u00a0abortion procedures. One, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/clinicquotes.com\/video-the-silent-scream\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Silent Scream<\/a><\/em>, was a recording on ultrasound of a first trimester baby being aborted. Though somewhat sensationalized and dated by today&#8217;s standards, the film had a huge impact when it came out in 1979, a time when few pictures and videos of aborted babies were in existence. Nathanson followed it up with\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/clinicquotes.com\/eclipse-of-reason\/\" target=\"_blank\">Eclipse of Reason<\/a><\/em>, showing the abortion by D&amp;E of a second trimester baby.<\/p>\n<p>In 1996,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/clinicquotes.com\/eclipse-of-reason\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Daily Mail<\/a><em>\u00a0<\/em>described<em>\u00a0<\/em>Eclipse of Reason this way:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">One moment it is a healthy `child\u2019 with less than four months to go to full term; the next it is lying, a tangled heap of bloodied human remains, on the table beside the instruments of its destruction.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Skull, fingers and spine are crushed almost beyond recognition \u2013 but not quite. The tell-tale remains say clearly that this was a person who might have lived.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In Eclipse of Reason,\u00a0Dr. Nathanson interviews abortionist Dr.\u00a0Jay Kelinson, who says that although he has performed thousands of abortions, he won&#8217;t do a D&amp;E because he finds the procedure too horrifying:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Interviewer: How many abortions do think you performed in your career?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Kelinson: I\u2019d say I probably performed 10,000 or more. I can remember days when I would do 30, 35 abortions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Interviewer: Would you do second trimester abortions, D&amp;E\u2019s even for medical reasons?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Kelinson:\u00a0\u00a0No, absolutely not. That is the most horrifying procedure I can think about. There is just absolutely no way I would ever do that.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Below is a diagram of a D&amp;E.\u00a0It shows how the baby is dismembered slowly, taken apart piece by piece.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-82895\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/de-1.jpg\" alt=\"de\" width=\"653\" height=\"475\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/de-1.jpg 653w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/de-1-300x218.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 653px) 100vw, 653px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Of course, first trimester abortions also dismember preborn babies &#8211; if they don&#8217;t obliterate them completely. Done by suction, first trimester abortions pull the baby through a tube, often breaking him or her into pieces along the way. (A number of doctors who perform these abortions <a href=\"\/news\/what-really-happens-during-a-dc-abortion\/\">admit that the baby is alive during it<\/a>.) Also, the baby at this stage is far more developed.<\/p>\n<p>Kelinson is not the only abortionist who is distressed by D&amp;E abortions. Other doctors have refused to do them.
