Jones III <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=3&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0ahUKEwjV9--gmNPJAhVFwj4KHf-PAeIQFggqMAI&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thelegalintelligencer.com%2Fhome%2Fid%3D1202744578069%2FJudge-Rejects-Moral-Objection-to-Contraceptive-Mandate%3Fmcode%3D1202617075166%26curindex%3D0&amp;usg=AFQjCNHCBEXDcu0D9gIK93QIiy41ZOkByw&amp;sig2=Ule2C9Vjm7AoGrClZc-UcA\">has rejected<\/a> the argument of Real Alternatives, a pro-life pregnancy help nonprofit, against Obamacare&#8217;s contraception mandate.<\/p>\n<p>Real Alternatives, a pro-life pregnancy help nonprofit based in Pennsylvania, argued that the federal health law&#8217;s so-called accommodation for religious employers who wish not to subsidize birth control for their employees violates the US Constitution.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>They contend that under the Fifth Amendment&#8217;s guarantee of equal protection, those with secular moral objections to contraception deserve the same exemption as the religious.<\/p>\n<p>But Jones ruled that religious objections deserved special respect due to being &#8220;placed upon a pedestal of protection by this nation&#8217;s lawmakers,&#8221; whereas &#8220;similar protections do not, and should not, exist for singular moral objections, and arguably do not yet exist for objections grounded in overarching moral philosophies.&#8221; He claimed accepting their argument would lead to a slippery slope of requests for exemptions from laws.<\/p>\n<p>While Christian objectors to Obamacare&#8217;s mandates have won a number of victories over the years, the conscience rights of secular organizations affected by the mandate have gone relatively unnoticed, even though the Constitution <a href=\"\/news\/obamacare-tramples-constitution\/\">does not grant the federal government<\/a> the power to compel Americans to purchase products.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. District Judge John E.
