It seems that when it comes to the Republican presidential candidates addressing the Planned Parenthood shooting, they’re damned if they do, damned if they don’t.<\/p>\n

Last Sunday, Carly Fiorina appeared on Fox News Sunday, where\u00a0host Chris Wallace brought up the Colorado shooting and asked Fiorina’s thoughts.\u00a0A transcript from Fox News<\/a> of the relevant segment shows her\u00a0statements were firm and principled, but also respectful and on point…<\/p>\n

WALLACE: \u00a0Your reaction to the shootings at that clinic in Colorado Springs?<\/p>\n

FIORINA: \u00a0Well, this is a tragedy. \u00a0It’s obviously a tragedy. \u00a0Nothing justifies this. \u00a0And presumably this man who appears deranged, if nothing else, will be tried for murder, as he should be. \u00a0But it’s a tragedy, especially on a holiday weekend.<\/p>\n

WALLACE: \u00a0You have been one of the toughest critics, as we’ve said, of Planned Parenthood’s alleged harvesting of body parts, selling for fetal research. \u00a0Some of the pro-choice advocates are saying language like yours, not single you out, but language like yours, has incited violence. \u00a0I\u2019d like to get your reaction to that. \u00a0But also, what would you say to protesters, people outside these clinics, about the limits of their opposition?<\/p>\n

FIORINA: \u00a0Well, first, it is not alleged. \u00a0Planned Parenthood acknowledged several weeks ago they would no longer take compensation for body parts, which sounds like an admission that they were doing so.<\/p>\n

Secondly, this is so typical of the left to immediately begin demonizing the messenger, because they don’t agree with the message. \u00a0The vast majority of Americans agree, what Planned Parenthood is doing is wrong. \u00a0That’s why the vast majority of Americans are prepared not only to defund Planned Parenthood, but also to stop abortion for any reason at all after five months.<\/p>\n

So, what I would say to anyone who tries to link this terrible tragedy to anyone who opposes abortion or opposes the sale of body parts is, this is typical left-wing tactics.<\/p>\n

WALLACE: \u00a0And what would you say to the protesters, the people that are outside the clinics and oppose it?<\/p>\n

FIORINA: \u00a0Well, any protesters should always be peaceful, whether it’s Black Lives Matter or pro-life protesters, protesters should always be peaceful and respectful.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But right away, some\u00a0media outlets turned to twisting Fiorina’s\u00a0words to make\u00a0headlines.\u00a0Many seized upon her use of the\u00a0term ‘left-wing tactics,’ perhaps because they had little else to go on.<\/p>\n

RawStory\u00a0<\/a>grasps<\/a> for any form of criticism it can find, mentioning that “Fiorina did not address comments made by the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooter, Robert Lewis Dear.”<\/p>\n
