Using the utterly depressing #ShoutYourAbortion hashtag, Planned Parenthood celebrates abortion as if it&#8217;s a trip to Disneyworld.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Wait! Did <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/OliviaPope?src=hash\">#OliviaPope<\/a> have an abortion? Btwn this &amp; the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BlackLivesMatter?src=hash\">#BlackLivesMatter<\/a> storyline on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/scandal?src=hash\">#scandal<\/a>, this is the best <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/TGIT?src=hash\">#TGIT<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ShoutYourAbortion?src=hash\">#ShoutYourAbortion<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; PP Black Community (@PPBlackComm) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PPBlackComm\/status\/667534385571192832\">November 20, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>In the midst of Planned Parenthood&#8217;s rejoicing, they forgot one important thing. Olivia Pope is a flawed character that has been\u00a0involved in affair with the President for most of the show. The abortion is simply <em>another bad decision<\/em> that resulted from a string of selfish actions. Her abortion is one more poor choice that shouldn&#8217;t be celebrated or emulated. One Twitter user wrote:<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I&#39;m really upset about what t\/character of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/OliviaPope?src=hash\">#OliviaPope<\/a> says 2 t\/world about <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/professional?src=hash\">#professional<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/blackwomen?src=hash\">#blackwomen<\/a> &amp; our personal relationships <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Scandal?src=hash\">#Scandal<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Carla Mays, MPA (@CarlaMays) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CarlaMays\/status\/667875252341309441\">November 21, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>Only in a crazy world of double standards can a nation applaud a show that promotes adultery while condemning \u00a0real acts of adultery like the ones revealed in the Ashley Madison hack. If adultery is wrong, why do people entertain themselves with a show \u00a0based on it? In 2013, Jezebel released an <a href=\"http:\/\/jezebel.com\/the-scandal-love-affair-is-more-like-emotional-abuse-1452181910\">article<\/a> titled, &#8220;The Scandal Love Affair is More Like Emotional Abuse.&#8221; The article, written by a woman of color, describes how unhealthy the fictional romance is:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"first-text\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">If it isn\u2019t obvious that her romance with President Fitz Grant is unhealthy by now, drop those rose-colored Shonda Rhimes glasses and let\u2019s walk into the light together, eh?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"first-text\">The writer uses the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.womenshealth.gov\/violence-against-women\/types-of-violence\/emotional-abuse.html\" target=\"_blank\">Department of Health and Human Services<\/a>\u00a0definition of emotional abuse to describe President Fitz Grant and Olivia Pope&#8217;s relationship. The second sign that Olivia is in a unhealthy relationship is the level of dishonesty and disrespect. Dishonesty and disrespect is defined as when one partner lies to or keeps information from the other.<\/p>\n<p class=\"first-text\">Although dishonesty is an unhealthy sign in a relationship, abortion advocates applaud Olivia for aborting what was likely the President&#8217;s baby without even telling him she was pregnant.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I appreciated how Olivia&#39;s abortion was solely her decision. She didn&#39;t have to justify it or cry about it. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Scandal?src=hash\">#Scandal<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/shondarhimes\">@shondarhimes<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; teresa castellani (@cayenneteresa) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cayenneteresa\/status\/667791497379508224\">November 20, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>Again, this is something that&#8217;s celebrated by the pro-choice community while they blissfully forget that Olivia is not a character viewers should emulate. Yes, they can follow her example when it comes to pursuing education and career aspirations\u00a0&#8211; but when it comes to sexual relationships and the choices that follow, it&#8217;s another story. A woman making a pregnancy decision should consult the father of her preborn child. It&#8217;s wrong to abort a child, and especially wrong to not even share that with the person who helped create the child. \u00a0At this point in the show, the affair is over and the President is available for a semi-normal relationship. Yet Olivia rejects that and rejects their child. Even the star of the show, Kerry Washington (who is a <a href=\"\/news\/scandal-promotes-planned-parenthood-sets-abortion-scene-to-silent-night\/\">supporter of Planned Parenthood<\/a>), said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment\/tv\/showtracker\/la-et-st-kerry-washington-olivia-pope-scandal-role-model-20150805-story.html\">this<\/a> about her character to the LA Times:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;I&#8217;ve always thought it was really\u00a0misguided when women\u00a0tell me that Olivia is their role model&#8230; &#8220;Because she&#8217;s having an affair with a married man who is president of the United States.<em>\u00a0And\u00a0<\/em>a murderer. And they stole an election together. Well, she stole it for him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Later Washington <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment\/tv\/showtracker\/la-et-st-kerry-washington-olivia-pope-scandal-role-model-20150805-story.html\">said<\/a> concerning Olivia Pope,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;She&#8217;s an entrepeneur, she&#8217;s very smart, she has an amazing closet, and those are all things that I think are worthy of admiration. But she is nobody&#8217;s role model.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Hear that, Planned Parenthood? Olivia Pope is nobody&#8217;s role model. In light of Planned Parenthood&#8217;s Black community approving of her decision there are some Black Twitter users that shared their disgust over the abortion scene.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">SMDH. (If you&#8217;re looking for a great show with an amazing black actress who is a hilarious wife and mom, check out ABC&#8217;s Blackish. It gives a beautiful portrayal of the blessing of family.)<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s good to know not everyone thinks an abortion set to the tune of Silent Night is a good idea. At the end of the day, Shonda Rhimes used her platform to make the Scandal finale one big advertisement for Planned Parenthood. Her mother paid for an abortion but walked out of the doctor's office after a janitor in the hospital approached her. The janitor told her God would give her the strength to have her baby and she believed it. Hearing this story in her 20's caused Christina to become strongly pro-life. After graduating college in 2005, Christina spent a few years at the Justice House of Prayer in D.C and with the pro-life group Bound4Life. She then moved to the Atlanta to be on staff with the 24\/7 prayer ministry IHOP ATL. Christina is a wife and stepmom who currently works for a CareNet pregnancy center.
