The pro-life community has come far in educating society on the horrors of abortion and on the humanity of the preborn in the womb… so far that even U.S. Senator and Presidential candidate Marco Rubio has defended his pro-life\u00a0view –\u00a0that all lives, no matter how they were conceived, deserve protection –\u00a0multiple times on national television, and seems to be no worse for wear. Perhaps that’s because his view is not as rare as the mainstream media would like to portray it.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Rubio again articulated\u00a0his position in an interview<\/a> with Howard Kurtz on FOX’s\u00a0Media Buzz. When Kurtz told Rubio that a group of Jeb Bush supporters – Right to Rise PAC – may be looking to use Rubio’s no-exceptions position on abortion against him<\/a>\u00a0(despite Jeb Bush’s objections<\/a>), Rubio was undeterred…<\/p>\n

As President, I will support and sign any legislation that saves lives, even if it has exceptions. I don’t personally require exceptions but if there’s a bill before me that saves lives by preventing abortions after twenty weeks or whatever it may be, I will sign it even if it has exceptions.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Rubio has not been secret about his position. In the first GOP presidential debate, FOX’s Megyn Kelly asked him if he favored\u00a0a rape\/incest exception for abortion. He\u00a0replied:<\/a><\/p>\n

\n

I have never said that and I have never advocated that. What I have advocated is that we pass law in this country that says all human life at every stage of its development is worthy of protection. In fact, I think that law already exists. It’s called the Constitution of the United States.<\/p>\n

And, let me go further.\u00a0I believe that every single human being is entitled to the protection of our laws whether they can vote or not. Whether they can speak or not. Whether they can hire a lawyer or not. Whether they have a birth certificate or not.<\/p>\n

And I think future generations will look back at this history of our country and call us barbarians for murdering millions of babies who we never gave them a chance to live.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Rubio isn’t alone. The\u00a0view that all preborn\u00a0children should be protected by law, regardless of how they were conceived, has been gaining traction in the pro-life movement for quite some time. Recently, Live Action president Lila Rose weighed in on abortion for cases of rape and incest,\u00a0asking <\/a>FOX’s\u00a0Sean Hannity and his pro-abortion guest, \u201cWhy should a child who\u2019s conceived in rape be given the death penalty for the crimes of his or her father?\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, “I think we can do better for women who are victims of sexual abuse and trauma to say that abortion is somehow a pathway to healing. Abortion is not a pathway to healing; it\u2019s another violent act.”<\/p>\n

And the voices of those among\u00a0the so-called abortion exceptions are growing louder as well. Rape-conceived pro-life advocate Juda Myers of Choices4Life pointed out<\/a> that the criminal in these “hard cases” is the rapist and not the unborn child. \u201cTo condemn a human for the crime of another is not justice,\u201d says Myers.<\/p>\n

Rubio is not new to angering abortion advocates with his no-exceptions beliefs. He has called <\/a>abortion bad for our society. \u201cThere is no compelling argument for why a woman\u2019s right to choose trumps a child\u2019s right to live,\u201d<\/em> he once stated. It appears he isn’t backing down from his position.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
