{"id":79730,"date":"2015-11-11T14:48:54","date_gmt":"2015-11-11T19:48:54","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=79730"},"modified":"2015-11-14T08:31:25","modified_gmt":"2015-11-14T13:31:25","slug":"whoopi-goldberg-says-no-one-harvesting-baby-parts-thats-news-planned-parenthood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/whoopi-goldberg-says-no-one-harvesting-baby-parts-thats-news-planned-parenthood\/","title":{"rendered":"Whoopi Goldberg says \u201cno one is harvesting baby parts.\u201d That\u2019s news to Planned Parenthood."},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Donald Trump wasn\u2019t too popular on The View a couple months back.\u00a0Trump <a title=\"Carly: \u2018I Am Proud of Every Year and Every Wrinkle\u2019\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/423985\/carly-i-am-proud-every-year-and-every-wrinkle-jim-geraghty\" target=\"_blank\">had disparaged<\/a> Republican rival Carly Fiorina\u2019s appearance, and Joy Behar called him out, asking, \u201cWhy don\u2019t you talk about her brain, instead of her face?\u201d Behar made clear that attacking someone\u2019s looks is just\u00a0unacceptable.\u00a0Well, except when <a title=\"The View on Carly: Unlike Trump, We Are Allowed to Make Fun of Your Face\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/article\/426368\/view-hosts-carly-fiorina-physical-appearance\" target=\"_blank\">she does it<\/a>; then it\u2019s totally fine.<\/p>\n<p>Following a televised debate, Behar\u00a0said Fiorina\u2019s face resembled \u201ca Halloween mask,\u201d while co-hosts Michelle Collins and Whoopi Goldberg\u00a0joked that\u00a0she seemed \u201cdemented.\u201d Of course, they didn\u2019t just insult the former CEO. When she came on the show, they also\u00a0took time to\u00a0<a title=\"Whoopi Defends Planned Parenthood against Fiorina: \u2018No One\u2019s Harvesting Baby Parts\u2019\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/article\/426725\/carly-fiorina-the-view-planned-parenthood\" target=\"_blank\">argue with her<\/a>. Badly.<\/p>\n<p>After Fiorina alluded to Planned Parenthood\u2019s history of performing late-term abortions and collecting fetal organs, Goldberg\u00a0declared that \u201cno one is harvesting baby parts.\u201d This would be news to <a title=\"Some babies survive at 22 weeks; this abortionist \u2018crushes\u2019 them at 24\" href=\"\/news\/babies-survive-22-weeks-doctor-crushes-24\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Deborah Nucatola<\/a>. She\u2019s Planned Parenthood\u2019s Director of Medical Services, and according to her, she\u2019s gotten \u201cvery good\u201d at it&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jjxwVuozMnU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>In an undercover video released by the<a href=\"http:\/\/centerformedicalprogress.org\/\"> Center for Medical Progress<\/a>, Nucatola is shown meeting with individuals claiming to be fetal tissue buyers. At three minutes and forty-three seconds, Nucatola describes how she can abort children\u00a0while still\u00a0salvaging their organs:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">We\u2019ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I\u2019m not gonna crush that part, I\u2019m gonna basically crush below, I\u2019m gonna crush above, and I\u2019m gonna see if I can get it all intact.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As you read the word \u201ccrush,\u201d keep in mind that there\u2019s evidence a fetus can <a href=\"http:\/\/national.deseretnews.com\/article\/216\/small-survivors-how-the-disputed-science-of-fetal-pain-is-reshaping-abortion-law.html\">experience pain<\/a> at 20 weeks. Nucatola aborts them at 24.<\/p>\n<p>That <a href=\"\/news\/planned-parenthood-admits-to-breaking-federal-law\/\">it\u2019s illegal<\/a> to alter \u201cthe timing, method, or procedures used to terminate the pregnancy\u2026 solely for the purposes of obtaining the tissue,\u201d doesn\u2019t seem to be a problem for Dr. Nucatola. In fact, she brags about her ability to do so. It\u2019s not a problem for Dr. Mary Gatter, president of Planned Parenthood\u2019s Medical Directors Council, who\u00a0on another video says:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Let me explain to you a little bit of a problem, which may not be a big problem. If our usual technique is suction, at 10 to 12 weeks, and we switch to using an IPAS [manual vacuum aspirator] or something with less suction, in order to increase the odds that it will come out as an intact specimen, then we\u2019re kind of violating the protocol that says to the patient, \u201cWe\u2019re not doing anything different in our care for you.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Does Gatter worry about \u201cviolating\u201d her patients\u2019 trust? Apparently not:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Now, to me, that\u2019s kind of a specious little argument, and I wouldn\u2019t object to asking Ian \u2014 who\u2019s our surgeon who does the cases \u2014 to use an IPAS at that gestational stage, in order to increase the odds that he\u2019s going to get an intact specimen.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MjCs_gvImyw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>When the hosts of The View\u00a0denied that Planned Parenthood sold fetal remains, Fiorina pointed out how Planned Parenthood has <a title=\"Lila Rose Statement on Planned Parenthood\u2019s Announcement to Stop Receiving Compensation for Baby Parts\" href=\"https:\/\/liveaction.org\/press\/lila-rose-statement-on-planned-parenthoods-announcement-to-stop-receiving-compensation-for-baby-parts\/\" target=\"_blank\">stopped accepting<\/a> money for in exchange for tissue&#8211;something it was pretty eager\u00a0to do\u00a0in the past.<\/p>\n<p>Two minutes and twenty four seconds into the second video above, Gatter is asked how much money she expects to get for supplying \u201cintact tissue.\u201d Given that federal law makes it illegal to profit from such a transaction, you would expect her to respond with something like, \u201cThat would depend solely on our expenses.\u201d Instead, she says, \u201cWell, why don\u2019t you start by telling me what you\u2019re used to paying?\u201d Gatter also makes clear that she doesn\u2019t like \u201clow-ball\u201d offers. What would she like? &#8220;<a title=\"\u201cI want a Lamborghini\u201d \u2013 Planned Parenthood official caught haggling over fetal tissue price\" href=\"\/news\/breaking-planned-parenthood-medical-director-caught-on-video-haggling-over-fetal-tissue-price\/\" target=\"_blank\">A\u00a0Lamborghini<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This conversation wasn\u2019t unique; you can find footage of other Planned Parenthood officials talking about <a title=\"\u201cIt was a twin.\u201d Planned Parenthood discusses sale of \u201cfully intact\u201d aborted babies\" href=\"\/news\/breaking-it-was-a-twin-planned-parenthood-discusses-sale-of-fully-intact-aborted-babies-in-new-tape\/\" target=\"_blank\">how lucrative<\/a> tissue \u201cdonation\u201d can be. Granted, there\u2019s another source of revenue that\u2019s been even more helpful to them.<\/p>\n<p>You.<\/p>\n<p>Every year, Planned Parenthood receives over <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2013\/01\/08\/planned-parenthood-receives-record-amount-taxpayer-support\/\">half a billion<\/a> dollars in federal funding. Pro-lifers are trying to redirect that money to <span style=\"color: #24890d;\">community health centers<\/span>, places that <a href=\"http:\/\/getyourcare.org\/\">provide care<\/a>\u00a0to almost 23 million people. Unfortunately, the White House and their allies on Capitol Hill won\u2019t let it happen. You can register your thoughts on that by signing Live Action\u2019s petition. After all, the facts aren\u2019t on their side. The good news?
