Titled the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/born-alive-abortion-survivors-protection-act-ian-tuttle\">Born-Alive Abortion Survivors\u2019 Protection Act<\/a>, it requires that medical care be given to infants who live through abortions. Or at least it <em>would<\/em> if it were\u00a0signed into law.<\/p>\n<p>President Obama has <a title=\"White House: Obama will veto bills that would prosecute infanticide and defund Planned Parenthood\" href=\"\/news\/obama-veto-bills-would-prosecute-infanticide-defund-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\">made clear<\/a> that isn\u2019t going to happen.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->This isn\u2019t\u00a0new for Obama.\u00a0<a title=\"Links to Barack Obama\u2019s votes on Illinois\u2019 Born Alive Infant Protection Act\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jillstanek.com\/2008\/02\/links-to-barack-obamas-votes-on-illinois-born-alive-infant-protection-act\/\" target=\"_blank\">He\u00a0opposed<\/a> similar legislation in Illinois, too. While nurse\u00a0Jill Stanek\u00a0testified about infants being <a title=\"Looking back: Jill Stanek exposed live birth abortions at Illinois hospital\" href=\"\/news\/looking-back-jill-stanek-exposed-live-birth-abortions-illinois-hospital\/\" target=\"_blank\">left to die<\/a> in a hospital utility closet, state Senator Obama remained unmoved. He declared that \u201cif these children are being born alive, I, at least, have confidence that a doctor who is in that room is going to make sure that they\u2019re looked after.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YUkbuhXzbvI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The President should probably talk to people in the abortion industry about that. They might have some different ideas.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qEv1afKaLhA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Planned Parenthood lobbyist Alisa LaPolt Snow <a title=\"FL: Planned Parenthood\" href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/inhuman\/fl-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\">certainly did<\/a>. Snow appeared before Florida legislators in 2013 and was asked what should happen when a child survives an abortion. She felt the \u201cdecision should be between the patient and the healthcare provider.\u201d When a lawmaker asked whether or not\u00a0\u201cthe patient would be the child struggling on the table,\u201d Snow called it \u201ca very good question.\u201d Apparently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.feinberg.northwestern.edu\/faculty-profiles\/az\/profile.html?xid=11396\">Dr. Cassing Hammond<\/a> has an answer: No.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0U9fXzYH9gI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Hammond directs the Center for Family Planning and Contraception at Northwestern University, and in 2014 he attended a National Abortion Federation conference. During a segment on second trimester abortions, Hammond spoke about using an injection to kill pre-born children before they\u2019re dismembered in the womb. Twenty minutes and twenty seconds into the video clip above, he says:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">We do recommend feticidal injections after a certain gestational age, but interestingly, only because we can\u2019t guarantee at the extremes of certain gestational ages that they won\u2019t be subject to resuscitation against the patient\u2019s wishes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>So there you have it: Hammond doesn\u2019t inject babies with poison to keep them from suffering while they\u2019re torn apart. Rather, he does it to make sure <em>no one can help them<\/em> if they come out alive.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-64979\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/de.jpg\" alt=\"de\" width=\"653\" height=\"475\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/de.jpg 653w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/de-300x218.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 653px) 100vw, 653px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This mindset isn\u2019t unique. Live Action volunteers documented it in 2013 when they took <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/inhuman\/\">hidden cameras<\/a> to multiple late-term abortion clinics. Pregnant and claiming to want abortions, the volunteers asked what happens when a baby survives. A staffer in New York City said the child would be\u00a0put in a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ri1n4gMCdIQ\">jar of solution<\/a>.\u201d Meanwhile, Washington, D.C.\u2019s Dr. Cesare Santangelo explained that he doesn\u2019t render assistance to surviving newborns, admitting that \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DHjclypoBD4&amp;feature=youtu.be\">it\u2019s happened before<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eipSl72hsmI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Former tissue procurement technician Holly O&#8217;Donnell encountered the same\u00a0attitude. O&#8217;Donnell worked for <a title=\"Shipping an aborted baby? \u201cMake sure the eyes are closed.\u201d\" href=\"\/news\/shipping-aborted-baby-make-sure-eyes-closed\/\" target=\"_blank\">StemExpress<\/a>, a company that\u00a0collected organs from aborted children and had a <a href=\"\/news\/breaking-stemexpress-cuts-ties-with-planned-parenthood\/\">long relationship<\/a> with Planned Parenthood. In a video put out by the <a href=\"http:\/\/centerformedicalprogress.org\/\">Center for Medical Progress<\/a>, O&#8217;Donnell recalled how she was told, at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte in California, to harvest brain matter from an aborted fetus whose heart was <a href=\"\/news\/video-7-hey-lets-cut-aborted-babys-face-half-get-brain\/\">still beating<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FzMAycMMXp8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Allegations like O\u2019Donnell\u2019s and\u00a0large amounts of <a title=\"Planned Parenthood isn\u2019t above the law. Time to stop treating it that way\" href=\"\/news\/planned-parenthood-isnt-law-time-stop-treating-way\/\" target=\"_blank\">incriminating footage <\/a>have led to a <a title=\"RH Reality Check called abortion survivors a \u201cmyth\u201d; Two of those myths just testified before Congress\" href=\"\/news\/rh-reality-check-called-abortion-survivors-myth-two-myths-just-testified-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\">Congressional investigation<\/a> of Planned Parenthood, America\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2015\/jan\/1\/planned-parenthood-327k-abortions-fiscal-2014\/\">largest abortion chain<\/a>. Witnesses have included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.co.kr\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0CB0Q3ywwAGoVChMI7-2dsdP5xwIVSKWUCh1HLAQY&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dq5YlJ9CZ9fI&amp;usg=AFQjCNGxHiZny2JvNyEcxqL22ckGa2QEfQ&amp;sig2=lZdDjmlwr55OsYCnsOqJuA&amp;bvm=bv.102537793,d.dGo\">Gianna Jessen<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2015\/09\/09\/abortion-survivor-tells-congress-planned-parenthood-would-have-killed-me-if-given-the-chance\/\">Melissa Ohden<\/a>, both of whom survived attempted abortions. They received life saving medical care, but that was unusual: surviving newborns are often either <a href=\"\/news\/babies-born-alive-after-abortions-part-3-nurses-tell-their-stories\/\">denied care<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/inhuman\/\">deliberately finished off<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/liveaction.org\/petition\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-68636\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b.jpg\" alt=\"DefundAd-400b\" width=\"400\" height=\"170\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b.jpg 400w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b-300x128.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next year, Americans will pick a new chief executive, who will either defend infants and support survivor legislation or won&#8217;t. We will have <a href=\"https:\/\/liveaction.org\/petition\/\">leaders in Congress<\/a> who will either redirect Planned Parenthood&#8217;s funding to <a href=\"\/news\/abortion-lobby-stands-in-way-more-funding-health-centers\/\">community health centers<\/a>\u00a0or they won&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>While President Obama might \u201chave confidence\u201d that abortionists will care for newborns, pro-lifers know the truth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The House of Representatives passed H.R. 3504 last month.
