Two of the witnesses it called last month were pro-life activists Gianna Jessen and Melissa Ohden. Both women\u00a0were born in the same year,\u00a0and there&#8217;s something else they have in common: they weren\u2019t supposed to be born at all.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.co.kr\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0CB0Q3ywwAGoVChMI7-2dsdP5xwIVSKWUCh1HLAQY&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dq5YlJ9CZ9fI&amp;usg=AFQjCNGxHiZny2JvNyEcxqL22ckGa2QEfQ&amp;sig2=lZdDjmlwr55OsYCnsOqJuA&amp;bvm=bv.102537793,d.dGo\">Jessen<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2015\/09\/09\/abortion-survivor-tells-congress-planned-parenthood-would-have-killed-me-if-given-the-chance\/\">Ohden<\/a> were delivered during failed abortions. They received life-saving medical treatment, but that isn\u2019t the norm. Surviving newborns are often either <a title=\"Nurses share heartbreaking stories of what happens to babies who survive abortions\" href=\"\/news\/babies-born-alive-after-abortions-part-3-nurses-tell-their-stories\/\" target=\"_blank\">denied care<\/a> or\u00a0<a title=\"Inhuman: Undercover in America's Late-term Abortion Industry\" href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/inhuman\/\" target=\"_blank\">deliberately<\/a><a title=\"Inhuman: Undercover in America's Late-term Abortion Industry\" href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/inhuman\/\" target=\"_blank\"> finished off<\/a>. Earlier this year, former tissue procurement technician Holly O\u2019Donnell\u00a0spoke about how she was told to harvest brain matter from an aborted baby whose heart was <a href=\"\/news\/video-7-hey-lets-cut-aborted-babys-face-half-get-brain\/\">still beating<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FzMAycMMXp8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>H.R. 3504\u00a0has been introduced\u00a0in response. Known as the \u201c<a title=\"Abortion Survivors and the Barbara Boxer Democrats\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/born-alive-abortion-survivors-protection-act-ian-tuttle\" target=\"_blank\">Born-Alive Abortion Survivors&#8217; Protection Act<\/a>,\u201d the bill requires that medical care be rendered to infants who survive abortions. While it passed easily in the House of Representatives, it turns out President Obama isn\u2019t a fan, with\u00a0a White House memo promising that the legislation<a href=\"\/news\/obama-veto-bills-would-prosecute-infanticide-defund-planned-parenthood\/\"> will be vetoed<\/a> if it reaches his desk.<\/p>\n<p>The memo argues that\u00a0these new requirements could \u201chave a chilling effect\u201d on abortionists. Obama offered <a href=\"http:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/katiepavlich\/2012\/08\/24\/listen_barack_obama_calls_newborn_baby_a_fetus_outside_of_the_womb\">similar reasoning<\/a> when, as a state senator, he opposed a law to protect abortion survivors in Illinois. This was despite testimony that\u00a0surviving infants were being <a title=\"Testimony of Jill L. Stanek, RN HR 1797\" href=\"http:\/\/lldf.org\/testimony-of-jill-l-stanek-rn-hr-1797\/\" target=\"_blank\">left to die<\/a> in a utility closet.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YUkbuhXzbvI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>In fact, Obama\u2019s views on the subject don\u2019t sound too different from Planned Parenthood\u2019s. When Planned Parenthood spokesperson Alisa LaPolt Snow was asked in 2013 what should be done with an infant who had survived an abortion and was \u201cstruggling alive on a table,\u201d she told the Florida state legislature that \u201cany decision made should be left up to the woman and her physician.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uax-FrhOioY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Given his record, some have dubbed the president an abortion absolutist. Thankfully, there\u2019s another term that also fits him: <a title=\"lame duck\" href=\"http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/lame%20duck\" target=\"_blank\">lame duck<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In just over a year, Americans will go to the polls. Between now and then, pro-lifers need to let the candidates know what their expectations are. They include <a title=\"Did the Latest Planned Parenthood Video Reveal Infanticide?\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/article\/421966\/did-latest-planned-parenthood-video-reveal-infanticide-mark-antonio-wright\" target=\"_blank\">investigating Planned Parenthood<\/a> and redirecting its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2013\/01\/08\/planned-parenthood-receives-record-amount-taxpayer-support\/\">half billion<\/a> dollar subsidy to <a href=\"\/news\/abortion-lobby-stands-in-way-more-funding-health-centers\/\">community health centers<\/a>. However, simply protecting newborns has to be among the most basic.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/liveaction.org\/petition\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-68636\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b.jpg\" alt=\"DefundAd-400b\" width=\"400\" height=\"170\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b.jpg 400w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b-300x128.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not clear whether H.R. 3504 will create a any sort of \u201cchilling effect,\u201d but do you know what does?
