(JillStanek.com<\/a>) To recap, undercover videos by the\u00a0Center for Medical Progress<\/a>\u00a0have revealed\u00a0Planned Parenthood\u2019s\u00a0potential involvement in four illegal activities: 1) selling baby body parts for profit; 2) manipulating abortion procedures to secure the choicest and most intact baby body parts; and committing 3) partial birth abortions and 4) live birth abortions for same.<\/p>\n

(These are aside from\u00a0charges of<\/a>\u00a0overbilling patients, committing\u00a0Medicaid\u00a0fraud, covering up child rape, side-stepping\u00a0parental involvement laws, and violating\u00a0FDA\u00a0protocol for\u00a0RU-486\u00a0administration, etc.)<\/p>\n

Today, Planned Parenthood sought to ameliorate the only allegation\u00a0it really could: selling baby body parts for profit.<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0letter<\/a>\u00a0to the director of the\u00a0National Institutes of Health, after obligatorily claiming, \u201cwe will never bow to political pressure,\u201d Planned Parenthood CEO\u00a0<\/strong>Cecile Richards\u00a0proceeded to clearly bow to political pressure (all emphases mine):<\/p>\n

In order to completely debunk the disingenuous argument that our opponents have been using \u2013 and to reveal the true\u00a0political purpose<\/strong>\u00a0of these attacks \u2013 our Federation has decided, going forward, that any Planned Parenthood health center that is involved in donating tissue after an abortion for medical research will follow the model already in place at one of our two affiliates\u00a0currently<\/strong>\u00a0facilitating donations for fetal tissue research. That affiliate accepts no reimbursement for its\u00a0reasonable expenses<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 even though reimbursement is fully permitted under the 1993 law. Going forward, all of our health centers will follow the same policy, even if it means they will not recover reimbursements permitted by the 1993 law.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

All this \u201cto take away any basis for attacking Planned Parenthood to advance an anti-abortion political agenda,\u201d wrote\u00a0Richards.<\/p>\n

Right, as if stopping an illegal practice provides legal cover for previous breaches. I will no longer rob banks, so let\u2019s forget about\u00a0all those\u00a0banks I robbed? That\u2019s not how the law works.<\/p>\n

The more Richards writes, the more trouble she draws.<\/p>\n

Such as those \u201creasonable expenses.\u201d Richards previously admitted in a August 27\u00a0letter<\/a>\u00a0to Congress that the\u00a0Planned Parenthood Pacific Southwest\u00a0affiliate in\u00a0California, about which she was writing in her new letter to NIH, received $60 \u201cper tissue specimen.\u201d Heart, lungs, liver, thymus, eyeballs, brain\u2026 those add up. That\u2019s $360 profit right there, on top of profit from the surgical procedure that garnered the parts to begin with. What\u2019s more, PPPS Medical Director\u00a0Katherine Sheehan\u00a0stated on video<\/a>\u00a0that PPPS partners with\u00a0Advanced Bioscience Resources,\u00a0which provides<\/a>\u00a0\u201ctrained personnel [to] coordinate the retrieval, preservation and delivery of each specimen.\u201d So what exactly did Planned Parenthood Pacific Southwest do to merit reimbursement?<\/p>\n

Then there\u2019s that Clintonesque word, \u201ccurrently.\u201d Richards wrote that only\u00a0two affiliates were\u00a0currently<\/em>\u00a0involved in fetal parts\u00a0trafficking. But how many Planned Parenthoods have shut down operations\u00a0since July? And what\u2019s the scale of Planned Parenthood\u2019s previous involvement? As CMP\u2019s David Daleiden wrote Congress on August 31 about Planned Parenthood\u2019s August 27 letter:<\/p>\n

\n

The letter references\u00a011 affiliates<\/strong>\u00a0total with fetal tissue involvement in the past 5 years\u00a0\u2013\u00a0nearly 20% of 59 affiliates\u00a0\u2013\u00a0but based on statements from Planned Parenthood representatives to our investigators in September \u00a02013, October 2014, and February 2015, and public statements from TPOs [tissue procurement organizations], CMP counts at least\u00a014 Planned Parenthood affiliates<\/strong>\u00a0that have definitively engaged in fetal tissue harvesting in that time period.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

A new\u00a0House\u00a0select committee\u00a0specifically formed to investigate Planned Parenthood will have\u00a0subpoena power. The CEOs of each of those 14 affiliates should be immediately slapped with one.<\/p>\n

At this point, defunding Planned Parenthood stands no chance of success unless we elect a pro-life president.<\/p>\n

Until then, there are now five congressional committees investigating Planned Parenthood, and they should pull out all stops.\u00a0It does not look<\/a>\u00a0like Planned Parenthood\u2019s latest ploy has dissuaded them. Of course, it should NOT.<\/p>\n

This is not just about defunding, this is about prosecution.\u00a0The videos opened the door. But the new select committee in particular is our best vehicle to secure damning evidence of Planned Parenthood as an institution.<\/p>\n

It and other committees on both the federal and state level have the ability to seek out and secure evidence of Planned Parenthood\u2019s local and corporate criminal operations in a way no undercover investigator can.<\/p>\n

If properly directed, committee investigations will yield a ready-made case for both defunding and federal prosecution in a new pro-life administration. And even if we do not win the\u00a0White House\u00a0in 2016, this body of evidence will provide ready-made cases for local prosecution, defunding, and legislation in friendly jurisdictions.<\/p>\n

One committee success we have already seen is in the procurement of Planned Parenthood\u2019s\u00a0contracts with\u00a0StemExpress<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The little that has been quoted from those contracts clearly shows the exchange of valuable consideration for human fetuses and their body parts, and the monetary incentivization of Planned Parenthood to provide salable parts.<\/p>\n

A good examination of all 14\u00a0Planned Parenthood affiliates that have supplied fetal tissue in the past five\u00a0years and their financial data will likely show millions of dollars total in illicit profit off of baby body parts.<\/p>\n

Cecile Richards\u2019 letter today cannot erase those profits.<\/p>\n
