{"id":75842,"date":"2015-10-01T12:56:58","date_gmt":"2015-10-01T16:56:58","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=75842"},"modified":"2015-10-02T19:35:00","modified_gmt":"2015-10-02T23:35:00","slug":"santorum-educates-view-planned-parenthood-doesnt-provide-mammograms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/santorum-educates-view-planned-parenthood-doesnt-provide-mammograms\/","title":{"rendered":"Santorum educates The View: Planned Parenthood doesn&#8217;t provide mammograms"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>On Wednesday, Republican presidential candidate and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum <a href=\"http:\/\/newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/scott-whitlock\/2015\/09\/30\/wrong-again-whoopi-santorum-swats-away-abortion-talking-points\">went on<\/a> the left-wing talk show The View, where the debate turned to one of the more persistent myths about Planned Parenthood&#8217;s services.<\/p>\n<p>In response to Whoopi Goldberg asking of Planned Parenthood&#8217;s taxpayer funding, &#8220;What will you replace it with if you take it away?&#8221; Santorum answered:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Well, first off, I\u2019m for reallocating every dollar that goes to Planned Parenthood and put them in women&#8217;s health centers that actually provide more comprehensive services than Planned Parenthood does. Planned Parenthood, for example, doesn&#8217;t provide mammograms. Now, I know people say they do, but they don\u2019t.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"MRC TV video player\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mrctv.org\/embed\/139741\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nGoldberg interrupted to claim, &#8220;Yeah, they do,&#8221; but Santorum responded:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">In fact, <em>[Planned Parenthood CEO]<\/em> Cecile Richards said yesterday in the hearing that, in fact, they do not. In fact, there are no Planned Parenthoods that provide any mammogram services. They basically provide abortion, contraceptive, STDs, things \u2014 and pregnancy tests. That&#8217;s it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>At Tuesday&#8217;s Congressional hearing, Richards <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/video\/2015\/09\/29\/planned-parenthood-pres-we-do-not-have-mammogram-machines-at-our-health-centers\/\">testified<\/a>, &#8220;We do not have mammogram machines at our health centers. And we\u2019ve never stated that we did.&#8221; Additionally, pro-life organization And Then There Were None recently <a href=\"\/news\/hundreds-women-call-planned-parenthood-expose-mammogram-lie\/\">made hundreds of calls<\/a> to Planned Parenthood locations, none of which managed to make mammogram appointments.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/petition\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-68636 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b.jpg\" alt=\"DefundAd-400b\" width=\"400\" height=\"170\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b.jpg 400w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b-300x128.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Co-host Paula Faris then asked, &#8220;Will these clinics then provide abortions or where do you want these displaced women to go?&#8221; Santorum noted:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">But the money that is going to Planned Parenthood cannot be used for abortion. So, when you reallocate that money away, it shouldn\u2019t effect their ability to provide abortion unless, of course, they are commingling funds. And that\u2019s one of the questions people have.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>While Planned Parenthood cannot technically spend its tax subsidies directly on abortion, pro-lifers fear that they free the organization to spend more of its\u00a0private revenue on abortion. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sba-list.org\/suzy-b-blog\/top-12-reasons-defund-planned-parenthood-now\">According to<\/a> the Susan B.
