{"id":75695,"date":"2015-10-01T11:55:12","date_gmt":"2015-10-01T15:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=75695"},"modified":"2015-10-01T13:37:48","modified_gmt":"2015-10-01T17:37:48","slug":"planned-parenthood-ceo-falsely-told-congress-they-never-claimed-to-provide-mammograms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-ceo-falsely-told-congress-they-never-claimed-to-provide-mammograms\/","title":{"rendered":"Planned Parenthood CEO falsely told Congress they never claimed to provide mammograms"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>On Tuesday, Planned Parenthood CEO and president Cecile Richards <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/hearing\/18201\/\">appeared before<\/a> the House Oversight Committee during a charged five hour testimony. \u00a0Richards was unable to answer many questions for committee members, but there was one thing Richards didn&#8217;t seem to have a problem answering, and that&#8217;s the fact that Planned Parenthood <em>doesn&#8217;t<\/em> provide mammograms.<\/p>\n<p>This is odd, considering Richards and her staff have <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/aq0kBkUZbvQ\">publicly made it seem<\/a>, on many occasions, as if the\u00a0organization does.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->When Richards was asked several times, by different members of the committee, however, she was honest and forthcoming\u00a0&#8211; never once making reference to her previous claims.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p><script>\/\/ <![CDATA[\n(function(d, s, id) {  var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];  if (d.getElementById(id)) return;  js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;  js.src = \"\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js#xfbml=1&#038;version=v2.3\";  fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-video\" data-allowfullscreen=\"1\" data-href=\"\/liveaction\/videos\/vb.49651563727\/10153628592208728\/?type=3\">\n<div class=\"fb-xfbml-parse-ignore\">\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/liveaction\/videos\/10153628592208728\/\"><p>Mammosham: Planned Parenthood faced its own mammogram lie.Before Congress, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards admitted that the abortion business has never provided mammograms, despite previous claims. It&#8217;s time for the President and abortion advocates to stop misleading the American people.<\/p>\n<p>Posted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/liveaction\">Live Action<\/a> on Thursday, October 1, 2015<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Although Richards told the truth about their mammogram services\u00a0(or lack thereof) she lied\u00a0when she claimed she never\u00a0said that they did.<\/p>\n<p>In no less than three instances, Richards told the committee\u00a0how Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">We do not have mammogram machines at our health centers and we\u2019ve never stated that we did.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">To the best of my knowledge not any Planned Parenthood facilities have mammogram machines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">No Planned Parenthood clinics have mammogram machines.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Richards also mentioned what pro-lifers have been trying to explain for years &#8211; that Planned Parenthood does what <em>any<\/em> medical facility can do:\u00a0refer patients to an outside agency for mammograms.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.plannedparenthoodexposed.com\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-68636 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b.jpg\" alt=\"DefundAd-400b\" width=\"400\" height=\"170\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b.jpg 400w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b-300x128.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, pro-lifers\u00a0<a href=\"\/news\/hundreds-women-call-planned-parenthood-expose-mammogram-lie\/\">actually called Planned Parenthood facilities<\/a>\u00a0to prove they don&#8217;t provide mammograms. It&#8217;s astounding that pro-lifers\u00a0still need to do this.<\/p>\n<p>From Cecile Richards&#8217; nonchalant discussion and admittance of Planned Parenthood&#8217;s lack of mammogram services, one would never think she had made such claims before. But she did &#8211; and she\u00a0even got President Obama to repeat it.<\/p>\n<p>Obama has mentioned the claim several times during his presidency, most memorably <a href=\"\/news\/obama-false-claim-planned-parenthood-provides-mammograms\/\">while<\/a> <a href=\"\/news\/president-obama-yet-again-refers-to-planned-parenthood-as-mammogram-provider-second-imaginary-mammogram-facebook-event-scheduled\/\">running<\/a> for re-election. As a result, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politifact.com\/truth-o-meter\/statements\/2012\/oct\/30\/barack-obama\/barack-obama-critics-clash-whether-planned-parenth\/\">Politifact<\/a> even got involved in\u00a0fact-checking the claim. His administration <a href=\"\/news\/false-info-obama-admin-defends-planned-parenthood-because-of-mammograms\/\">also mentioned mammograms<\/a>\u00a0while supporting Planned Parenthood even among the fetal body parts trafficking controversy over the summer.<\/p>\n<p>Live Action has also highlighted Cecile Richards&#8217; lies about mammograms through <a href=\"https:\/\/liveaction.org\/planned-parenthood-false-mammogram-claims\/\">the Mammosham project. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>[youtube http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aq0kBkUZbvQ&amp;w=560&amp;h=315]<\/p>\n<p>It is worth mentioning that Cecile Richards was under oath during her testimony to Congress.
