{"id":74727,"date":"2015-09-23T11:11:11","date_gmt":"2015-09-23T15:11:11","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=74727"},"modified":"2015-09-24T16:56:44","modified_gmt":"2015-09-24T20:56:44","slug":"planned-parenthood-officials-want-late-term-abortions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-officials-want-late-term-abortions\/","title":{"rendered":"Planned Parenthood: We want to do more late-term abortions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>While\u00a0Planned Parenthood publicly\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.plannedparenthoodaction.org\/issues\/abortion-access\/20-week-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\">claims<\/a>\u00a0that abortions late in pregnancy are done mainly for\u00a0severe fetal anomalies, undercover videos by The Center for Medical Progress show Planned Parenthood abortionists\u00a0discussing their expected weekly\u00a0numbers\u00a0of late-term,\u00a0<em>healthy<\/em> &#8220;specimens&#8221; for procurement agencies and researchers\u00a0&#8211; <em>not<\/em> ones with anomalies.<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood leadership,\u00a0speaking to investigators\u00a0they thought were fetal body parts harvesters, admitted that the amount of late-term abortions performed by Planned Parenthood is on the rise &#8211; and that this is intentional.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_66922\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-66922\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-66922 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/deborah-nucatola-twitter-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Deborah Nucatola\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/deborah-nucatola-twitter-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/deborah-nucatola-twitter-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/deborah-nucatola-twitter-700x700.jpg 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/deborah-nucatola-twitter.jpg 780w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-66922\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Deborah Nucatola<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In July 2014, Deborah Nucatola, Senior Director of Medical Services for Planned Parenthood Federation of America,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.centerformedicalprogress.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PPFAtranscript072514_final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">told<\/a> CMP investigators\u00a0that the number of babies aborted by Planned Parenthood at 20 weeks or greater is\u00a0increasing:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">But what you\u2019re going to see, and see more of is, the Planned Parenthood affiliates who do go to <a href=\"https:\/\/saynsumthn.wordpress.com\/2015\/05\/13\/abortion-advocates-like-planned-parenthood-oppose-20-week-abortion-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\">20 weeks<\/a>, their volume is going to go up, it\u2019s not going down.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Why would this be occurring? Because, says Nucatola, while laws regulating abortion generally are closing some clinics, they are not shutting down taxpayer-funded Planned Parenthood:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Because what\u2019s happening is, the laws, the legal environment, is not shutting us down. They\u2019re shutting everyone else down, who just don\u2019t have their act together because they\u2019re just not under the scrutiny. Um, and there are some groups and some independent providers, but there is only so much independent providers can do to withstand the pressure they\u2019re getting.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The conversation revealed that many affiliates are performing these later abortions. Other statements made by Nucatola detail Planned Parenthood&#8217;s involvement with late-term abortion:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;There are three affiliates right now in California that go up to 20 weeks&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Arizona only goes to 20 weeks. There\u2019s is a law that says 20 weeks; it was 18&#8230;&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;We have an affiliate in Orlando that goes to 20 weeks right now.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;We have several affiliates not just in New York City that go to at least 18, I think.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Gulf Coast was there; Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota go up to 20 weeks.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;New York City is what PPLA is on the West Coast;\u00a0New York City is on the East Coast. They don\u2019t use dig [digoxin, to stop the fetal heart], so you would have up to 24 weeks; the other thing is that their volume is probably as big, if not bigger. They do procedures Tuesday through Saturday.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;You know, PPLA for example\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0probably about 3,000 2nd tris, 12,000 total.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Planned Parenthood has hundreds of centers that either refer for abortions or perform them, and they are insulated by the $500 million dollars in federal tax money they receive each year.<\/p>\n<p>So while Planned Parenthood says\u00a0they are the solution to &#8220;unwanted pregnancies&#8221; because of their contraceptive services, their top medical staff admits\u00a0internally that they are gearing up to perform\u00a0even more of the late-term abortion procedures that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2015\/01\/21\/84-of-americans-want-late-term-abortions-banned-back-bill-to-stop-them-after-20-weeks\/\">a majority of Americans<\/a> dislike.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-68636\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b.jpg\" alt=\"DefundAd-400b\" width=\"400\" height=\"170\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b.jpg 400w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/DefundAd-400b-300x128.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nucatola also told the CMP &#8220;buyers&#8221; that although there are independent clinics performing\u00a0abortions to 26 weeks, Planned Parenthood (which she stated did not perform abortions that far &#8220;yet&#8221;) also wanted make sure the industry generally aborts babies &#8220;to the legal limit&#8221;:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">There\u2019s a lot of conversation about who goes to the legal limit in their state; if they don\u2019t go to the legal limit in their state why don\u2019t they? Is there another provider that does? So we\u2019re about to start doing some mapping work to say, you know, are there states where nobody\u2019s going to the legal limit? And if not, why not, and <strong>what can we do about that<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Nucatola adds that\u00a0she personally gave a\u00a0Planned Parenthood affiliate in Utah a waiver to perform abortions to 20 weeks:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">I just gave them a waiver. They\u2019re probably going to 14 or 16, but I just gave them a waiver to go to 20, and I think they\u2019re going to start going to 20 on a regular basis.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"attachment_74745\" style=\"width: 275px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-74745\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-74745\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/CMP-Melissa-Ferrell-300x191.jpg\" alt=\"CMP Melissa Ferrell\" width=\"265\" height=\"169\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-74745\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Melissa Farrell<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In another CMP video,\u00a0Melissa Farrell, Director of Research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast\u00a0(Houston), was asked &#8220;How many providers practice in the\u00a0second trimester? Specifically, the later than 16 week cases.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centerformedicalprogress.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PPGCtranscript04092015_final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">responded<\/a>, &#8220;I mean, everybody here does. I want to say we have 6 [abortionists who go past 16 weeks].&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A glimpse at several Planned Parenthood websites reveal that late-term abortion is not exactly rare for the taxpayer-funded abortion giant:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Planned Parenthood of Illinois (PPIL) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/planned-parenthood-illinois\/patient-resources\/abortion-services\/clinic-abortion\" target=\"_blank\">provides<\/a> in-clinic abortions up to 19 weeks and 6 days (just one day shy of 20 weeks).<\/li>\n<li>The same is true of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/planned-parenthood-mid-south-michigan\/patient\/abortion-services\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mid and South Michigan<\/a> affiliate.<\/li>\n<li>Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/planned-parenthood-western-pennsylvania\/patients\/fees-services\" target=\"_blank\">performs<\/a> abortions as late as 17-18 weeks &#8211; and of course accepts cash, money order, MasterCard, American Express and VISA.<\/li>\n<li>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/planned-parenthood-massachusetts\/online-health-center\/planned-parenthood-services-birth-control-abortion-std-hiv-pregnancy-health-care\/\" target=\"_blank\">Massachusetts<\/a>, Planned Parenthood&#8217;s in-clinic abortions go up to 18 weeks 6 days.<\/li>\n<li>Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota <a href=\"https:\/\/www.minnesotahelp.info\/Providers\/Planned_Parenthood_Minnesota_North_Dakota_South_Dakota\/Abortion_Services\/32?returnUrl=%2FSpecialTopics%2FYouth%2F19190%3F\" target=\"_blank\">offers<\/a> abortions up to 21 weeks and 6 days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To date, Planned Parenthood has been found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/monalisa\">covering\u00a0up<\/a> the sexual abuse of minors, aiding the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/traffick\">sex trafficking<\/a> of young women, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/rosaacuna\/\">lying to women<\/a> about fetal development and abortion, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centerformedicalprogress.org\/human-capital\/\">trafficking in fetal body parts<\/a>, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Women and families can obtain healthcare without becoming involved with a corrupt organization rife with scandal.
