{"id":74619,"date":"2015-09-23T15:24:59","date_gmt":"2015-09-23T19:24:59","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=74619"},"modified":"2015-09-23T16:21:26","modified_gmt":"2015-09-23T20:21:26","slug":"pro-life-leader-planned-parenthood-prosecuted-not-just-defunded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-life-leader-planned-parenthood-prosecuted-not-just-defunded\/","title":{"rendered":"Pro-life leader: Planned Parenthood should be prosecuted, not just defunded"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue and\u00a0board member of The Center for Medical Progress (CMP), which has exposed\u00a0Planned Parenthood for its gruesome body parts harvesting, is calling for the organization\u00a0to not only be defunded, but prosecuted.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2KP5KEzWvkU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Newman has strongly criticized Planned Parenthood supporters in Congress who have attempted to realign the conversation to attack him and CMP&#8217;s lead investigator, David Daleiden, rather than looking at\u00a0Planned Parenthood&#8217;s actions. Newman states:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">They are attempting to deflect that Planned Parenthood is violating the law by profiting from the sale of human body parts, that they are manipulating the abortion techniques to put profits ahead of the health safety of women. And the videos also show that babies are being born alive and being murdered.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>To date, CMP has released ten\u00a0videos showing Planned Parenthood executives haggling over the price of organs and even admitting they will crush above or below specific body parts to preserve the organs they want to harvest.<\/p>\n<p>Newman\u00a0states that the videos clearly show Planned Parenthood is &#8220;breaking the law.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The undercover videos have outraged Americans and prompted the majority of GOP Presidential contenders to vow to defund Planned Parenthood, which currently receives over $528 million in federal tax dollars annually.<\/p>\n<p>To help apply pressure, Newman is calling for pro-lifers to visit <a href=\"http:\/\/defundplannedparenthoodnow.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">DefundPlannedParenthoodNow.com <\/a> to purchase\u00a0postcards\u00a0&#8211; urging representatives to\u00a0completely defund Planned Parenthood &#8211; which will be hand-delivered\u00a0to Capitol Hill offices\u00a0in the next few weeks.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-74623 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/cardDPPN.gif\" alt=\"cardDPPN\" width=\"254\" height=\"230\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But Newman said defunding the abortion giant\u00a0is not enough. He is calling for their prosecution as well, urging state attorneys general to view the videos and act accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>Newman also urges\u00a0pro-lifers to <a href=\"\/news\/next-national-day-protest-planned-parenthood-october-10\/\">protest Planned Parenthood on October 10th<\/a>. This protest follows one in August in which\u00a0over 78,000 people participated,\u00a0at\u00a0354 sites throughout the U.S. and in six foreign countries.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone wishing to participate can
