{"id":74230,"date":"2015-09-17T11:38:38","date_gmt":"2015-09-17T15:38:38","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=74230"},"modified":"2015-09-17T12:27:42","modified_gmt":"2015-09-17T16:27:42","slug":"center-medical-progress-fights-back-naf-censorship-efforts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/center-medical-progress-fights-back-naf-censorship-efforts\/","title":{"rendered":"Center for Medical Progress fights back against abortion group&#8217;s censorship efforts"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>The Center for Medical Progress, Thomas More Society, and Life Legal Defense Foundation attorneys representing CMP&#8217;s David Daleiden have filed a petition to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals challenging a\u00a0lower court&#8217;s decision forcing CMP to defend against the National Abortion Federation&#8217;s efforts to silence their Planned Parenthood undercover videos.<\/p>\n<p>Following NAF&#8217;s efforts to <a href=\"\/news\/breaking-national-abortion-federation-files-injunction-video-release\/\">seek an injunction<\/a> against the release of further videos, CMP&#8217;s legal team filed a motion\u00a0&#8220;challeng[ing] the legal sufficiency of all 13 claims asserted in NAF&#8217;s Complaint and highlighted clear deficiencies in NAF&#8217;s only claim asserted under federal law, namely, the RICO (racketeering) law.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->A District Court rejected their claim that the motion &#8220;should have affected a mandatory stay of all discovery,&#8221; leading to this week&#8217;s appeal to the 9th Circuit.
