Virginia’s new governor is set to relax desperately needed safety standards and regulations for abortion facilities — but it\u00a0did not\u00a0save one Virginia abortion mill.<\/p>\n

The Amethyst Health Center for Women has just announced its closure<\/a>, but the reason why the facility is\u00a0shutting its\u00a0doors is mysteriously omitted from an\u00a0announcement. A posting to Amethyst’s\u00a0website reads:<\/p>\n

After 27 years of providing excellent medical care for women, Amethyst Health Center for Women will be closing on Sept. 28th, 2015. We appreciate the trust and support of so many women over the years – it has been an honor to serve this community.<\/p>\n

Patients may obtain their medical records at the clinic until 9\/28\/15.<\/p>\n

Virginia abortion mills\u00a0operate under notoriously disgusting conditions<\/a>. When inspectors examined the facilities\u00a0several years ago, not a single one was free from violations. Among the nine clinics, 80<\/em> violations were found. Amethyst Health Center for Women was no exception. Operation Rescue detailed the history of this shoddy clinic<\/a>:<\/p>\n

When the Amethyst Health Center for Women was inspected in June and December of 2012, inspectors discovered 48 pages of violations including multiple violations of infection prevention protocols that left women at risk of becoming sick.<\/p>\n

Violations included dirty facility conditions, soiled linens and recovery recliners, and the failure of staff to change gloves between patients.<\/p>\n

The second inspection report revealed that infection control issues discovered during the June inspection still had not been corrected six months later.<\/p>\n

One of the facility\u2019s abortionist Linwood Turner, was sued for \u201cwrongful death\u201d in 1997. The case appeared to be dismissed following moderation, which implies that an agreement was reached with the plaintiffs.<\/p>\n

Another of Amethyst\u2019s abortionists, Thomas Gressinger, was reprimanded in August 2013, for allowing, (in Gosnell-like fashion), an unqualified worker to administer drugs to abortion patients. He was also sued by an abortion patient in 1993 for an abortion that was so badly botched that she required an emergency hysterectomy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It is, without a doubt, a relief to know that this abortion mill is shutting down, considering the conditions it was operating under. But unfortunately, countless shoddy mills\u00a0still remain \u2014\u00a0and yet pro-abortion Governor Terry McAuliffe is putting politics above women’s health and safety by relaxing the standards abortion clinics must operate under.<\/p>\n

Given the documented history of disgusting and subpar conditions found in Virginia’s abortion facilities, there is clearly still reason to be very worried for the women of Virginia who might find themselves drawn to their doors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
