John Cornyn, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has &#8220;talked about some pro-life legislation he&#8217;ll be filing for cloture on at the end of next week,&#8221; meaning the bill to ban abortions at 20 weeks could receive a vote early next week.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The legislation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/114th-congress\/house-bill\/36\/actions\">passed<\/a> the House 242-184 in May, but while the Senate has a pro-life majority, it is unlikely to reach the sixty votes <a href=\"\/news\/wasnt-majority-vote-enough-defund-planned-parenthood-insane-filibuster-rules\/\">necessary to end a Democrat filibuster<\/a>, even though a <a href=\"http:\/\/hotair.com\/archives\/2015\/05\/13\/obama-plans-to-veto-wildly-popular-20-week-abortion-ban\/\">number of polls have\u00a0shown<\/a> that between 55 and 59\u00a0percent\u00a0of the country supports a 20-week abortion ban.<\/p>\n<p>Pro-lifers such as Sen. Rand Paul <a href=\"\/news\/rand-paul-asks-one-democrat-life-begins-response-shocking\/\">have indicated<\/a> more support could be garnered by a public debate asking Democrats if they&#8217;re &#8220;OK with killing a 7-pound baby that is not born yet&#8221; and &#8220;when it\u2019s okay to protect life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Senate Minority\u00a0Leader Harry Reid criticized the Republicans for considering abortion at all: &#8220;We should move on to something else. It should be the budget.
