Andrea Grimes<\/span><\/u><\/a> and Sharona Coutts<\/span><\/u><\/a> are senior figures at RH Reality Check<\/a>,\u00a0 both having worked on various projects there. Grimes is famous for promoting the site\u2019s Beer, Tacos, and Abortions fundraiser<\/a>. As she explained last summer, \u201cThe Taco or Beer Challenge couldn\u2019t be simpler: You eat a taco and\/or drink a beer, and you donate to an abortion fund.\u201d<\/p>\n

A couple of years back, the pair took on another endeavor: mythbusting. They wrote an article<\/a> called \u201cDisproven: The Myth of Infants \u2018Born Alive\u2019 After Abortions,\u201d and it addresses \u201cthe \u00a0anti-choice bogeyman of the soulless abortion doctor, slaughtering newborns in clinics across the country with nary a second thought.\u201d<\/p>\n

Curiously, the authors never explain why it\u2019s \u201csoulless\u201d to kill a child at one end of the birth canal but not at the other. Still, they contend that stories of infants being born alive following botched abortions are just examples of \u201cmyth-making and fear-mongering.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grimes and Coutts may want to revise that theory; two of those myths just testified<\/a> on Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n

Gianna Jessen and Melissa Ohden appeared before the House Judiciary Committee last Friday. The committee is investigating<\/a> a number of claims concerning Planned Parenthood, America\u2019s largest abortion chain<\/span><\/u><\/a>. One of the allegations is that children are being born alive<\/a> in failed abortions.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a subject Jessen and Ohden have some experience with.<\/p>\n

Gianna Jessen\u2019s mother went to Planned Parenthood for a saline abortion seven and a half months into her pregnancy; things didn\u2019t go according to plan. Instead of dying, Gianna was born alive<\/a> and believes she only stayed that way because the abortionist hadn\u2019t arrived at the clinic yet.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Melissa Ohden was delivered at an\u00a0Iowa hospital following an\u00a0attempted\u00a0abortion. On Friday, Ohden stated her conviction that she “would not be here today<\/a>”\u00a0if her mother had gone to Planned Parenthood instead. New evidence supports\u00a0her suspicion.<\/p>\n

Beginning in July, the Center for Medical Progress<\/span><\/u><\/a> (CMP) began to release a series of undercover videos. Shot on hidden cameras, they record meetings between figures associated with Planned Parenthood and people claiming to be fetal organ buyers.<\/p>\n
