{"id":7278,"date":"2011-10-20T18:42:02","date_gmt":"2011-10-20T22:42:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/blog\/?p=7278"},"modified":"2013-04-01T18:47:42","modified_gmt":"2013-04-01T22:47:42","slug":"planned-parenthood-funding-redirected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-funding-redirected\/","title":{"rendered":"Planned Parenthood funding redirected to another health care provider in pro-life victory"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Following a lengthy battle to keep a $397,000 taxpayer-funded contract in Memphis, Tennessee, Planned Parenthood has lost the fight.\u00a0 After significant pro-life lobbying, the county commission awarded the tax money to Christ Community Health Services.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, although Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards has claimed that Planned Parenthood provides mammograms for women<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a>, a Live Action telephone investigation in March, 2011 recorded this same Memphis Planned Parenthood clinic admitting that it does <em>not<\/em> provide mammograms.\u00a0 Instead, they referred our caller to Christ Community Health Service \u2013 the same organization that is now receiving the tax money. Watch the <a href=\"..\/planned-parenthood-ceos-false-mammogram-claim-exposed\/\">Live Action recording<\/a> below beginning at 1:49.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aq0kBkUZbvQ\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Rick Donlon, a founding physician at the Christ Community Health clinic, stated, \u201ca pregnancy is a human life and that is worthy of all the protections.\u201d\u00a0 He continued, \u201cWe really try to provide women with other options and make sure they have those possibilities,\u201d emphasizing that his organization does not direct women to abortion clinics.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->In an interview with LifeNews, Brian Harris of Tennessee Right to Life commented, \u201cPro-life Tennesseans have proven again today what can be positively accomplished for the protection of human life when we work together.\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time that Planned Parenthood of Memphis has faced scrutiny.\u00a0 In the Summer of 2008, a Planned Parenthood counselor was caught counseling Lila Rose, posing as a 14-year-old girl, to lie about her 31-year-old boyfriend&#8217;s age to get an abortion in our <a href=\"..\/..\/mona-lisa\/memphis-tn\">undercover video<\/a>. The staffer counsels Rose to lie to a judge about her boyfriend&#8217;s age in order to bypass parental notification laws, admits that she should report the abuse, but chooses to do nothing. \u00a0Planned Parenthood states that the employee voluntarily left between the video&#8217;s filming and its release.
