While the board normally stays silent on abortion, they said, the videos demanded attention for breaching \u201cpro-choice ethics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->\u201cWe generally avoid the abortion wars, because minds are so made up,\u201d the board began. But they called the videos exposing Planned Parenthood \u201canother matter\u201d that they couldn\u2019t ignore \u2013 because the videos \u201csuggest violations of pro-choice ethics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s a pretty low bar: pro-choice ethics (if there is such a thing). But Planned Parenthood managed to break them, the Post argued.<\/p>\n<p>Noting the \u201canti-abortion\u201d Center for Medical Progress that issued the videos, the board condemned the Planned Parenthood executives discussing \u201cthe sale of tissue and whole organs from abortions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They called out Mary Gatter, Planned Parenthood\u2019s Medical Directors Council president, who <a href=\"http:\/\/newsbusters.org\/blogs\/culture\/katie-yoder\/2015\/07\/21\/video-planned-parenthood-exec-haggles-over-baby-part-pricing#.9dix5i:yWJO\">talked about<\/a> altering and \u201ceven delaying abortions\u201d on camera to \u201cacquire \u2018good\u2019 tissue.\u201d Gatter, the Post argued, \u201csure seems to be putting that goal above the interests of Planned Parenthood\u2019s clients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In reaction to <a href=\"http:\/\/newsbusters.org\/blogs\/culture\/katie-yoder\/2015\/08\/12\/video-abortion-workers-would-just-take-baby-parts-women-\u2013\">last week\u2019s video<\/a> revealing that a clinic harvested baby parts without \u201cmothers\u2019 informed consent\u201d (yes, the Post said mothers), the board demanded, <strong>\u201cWhat about the right of women to make the choices they think best?\u201d<\/strong> [emphasis added].<\/p>\n<p>(Oops, you mean Planned Parenthood isn\u2019t really pro-choice? But then, from the very beginning, they never considered the baby\u2019s choice!)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHuh,\u201d the board retorted. \u201cPlanned Parenthood\u2019s defenders are generally the same folks who require clear consent for a kiss in a college dorm room.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And Planned Parenthood\u2019s defenses so far, the board added, \u201chave not impressed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In other words, it\u2019s time for even the pro-choice movement to abandon Planned Parenthood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerhaps it\u2019s time for the premiere provider of abortion services to consent to giving the public a much better look at its operations,\u201d the board concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Now they just need to pass along that sentiment to <a href=\"http:\/\/newsbusters.org\/blogs\/culture\/katie-yoder\/2015\/08\/13\/censored-networks-spent-0008-news-shows-planned-parenthood#.9dix5i:9Ux2\">the broadcast networks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Editor&#8217;s Note: This article was first published <a href=\"http:\/\/newsbusters.org\/blogs\/culture\/katie-yoder\/2015\/08\/17\/ny-post-slams-planned-parenthood-breaking-pro-choice-ethics#sthash.NBDqgwGk.dpuf\">at Newsbusters <\/a>on August 17, 2015, and is reprinted here with permission.)\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Newsbusters.com) You know it\u2019s bad when the media start bashing Planned Parenthood \u2013 with pro-choice arguments.
