claiming that 87% of pregnancy resource centers gave \u201cfalse or misleading information\u201d to their callers, posing as a 17-year-old pregnant girl, during a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chsourcebook.com\/articles\/waxman2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">phone investigation of the centers<\/a>.\u00a0 The vast majority of these centers informed the callers that induced abortion can lead to an increased risk of breast cancer, mental health problems, and infertility issues in the future, which Planned Parenthood avidly denounces.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation concludes that pregnancy resource centers \u201cfrequently fail to provide medically accurate information\u2026misrepresented the medical consequences of abortion\u2026 [Frighten] pregnant teenagers and women and [discourage] abortion\u2026and is not an accepted public health practice,\u201d because they inform women of the possible risks associated with induced abortion.<\/p>\n<p>Although Planned Parenthood vehemently denies it, there<em> is<\/em> a positive <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2011\/10\/18\/abortion-breast-cancer-53-of-66-studies-in-54-years-show-link\/\" target=\"_blank\">correlation between induced abortion and an increased risk of breast cancer<\/a>.\u00a0 Abortion actually <em>can<\/em> cause future <a href=\"http:\/\/www.time.com\/time\/health\/article\/0,8599,1695927,00.html#ixzz1bCnPJwbS\" target=\"_blank\">fertility problems<\/a>\u00a0and puts subsequent children at risk of premature birth and\/or low birth weight.\u00a0 There really <em>is<\/em> a link between <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/health\/8734378\/Abortion-increases-risk-of-mental-health-problems-new-research-finds.html\" target=\"_blank\">abortion and mental health issues<\/a> in women.\u00a0 The facts are there, and women deserve to know.\u00a0 Before a doctor can prescribe medicine to or a surgeon can perform a procedure on a patient, he or she must be fully informed of all possible risks and complications that could develop subsequent to taking the medicine or going through with the procedure.\u00a0 Abortion is one of the most common surgeries performed in America\u2014why shouldn\u2019t these standards apply to this procedure as well?<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Interestingly, if we take a look at what Planned Parenthood\u2019s idea of providing scientifically sound facts to pregnant women looks like, we\u2019d get claims that at 6-8 weeks, an unborn baby has \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/rosa-acuna\/milwaukee-wi-the-rosa-acuna-project\" target=\"_blank\">no arms, no legs, no heart no head, no brain<\/a>,\u201d (which is a grossly inaccurate assessment of the well-developed unborn baby\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ehd.org\/dev_article_unit8.php\" target=\"_blank\">appearance at that age<\/a>) and a baby\u2019s heart starts beating at \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/rosa-acuna\/appleton-wi\" target=\"_blank\">about seventeen or eighteen weeks<\/a>,\u201d (when in reality it\u2019s at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ehd.org\/dev_article_unit4.php\" target=\"_blank\">three weeks<\/a>).\u00a0 Who is really misleading and misinforming women here?<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d like to note that pregnancy resource centers provide pregnant women with entirely free services like pregnancy tests, options counseling, material and financial support, ultrasounds, and more.\u00a0 Most of their money comes from generous donors who support the life-affirming mission of these centers.\u00a0 On the other hand, 97% of Planned Parenthood\u2019s pregnancy related services are abortions (over 330,000 annually) while less than 3% of pregnancy related services are for pre-natal care or adoption referrals.\u00a0 Abortion makes up about <a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/blog\/38-4-of-pp-health-center-income-is-from-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\">38% of Planned Parenthood\u2019s clinic revenue<\/a> and 15% of their overall billion-dollar income.\u00a0 Compared to the over $300,000,000 Planned Parenthood receives in federal funds each and every year, the amount that pregnancy resource centers receive\u2014$30,000,000 over a four-year period, according to Planned Parenthood\u2019s source for their claims\u2014is miniscule.<\/p>\n<p>I do question why Planned Parenthood is so eager to go after these pregnancy resource centers when they have a plethora of major self-induced problems brewing in their own organization\u2014along with <a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/rosaacuna\" target=\"_blank\">lying to women about fetal development<\/a>, their employees chronically <a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/monalisa\" target=\"_blank\">covering up and abetting statutory rape<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/traffick\" target=\"_blank\">assisting pimps in running their prostitution business<\/a> with underage sex slaves.\u00a0 Why aren\u2019t they working to end the corruption in their corporations instead of trying to prevent pregnancy centers from truly informing women about the dire consequences of
