Caplan heads New York University School of Medicine\u2019s medical ethics division, and in a recent\u00a0Wall Street Journal article, he commented on\u00a0the series of undercover videos that the <a title=\"Center for Medical Progress\" href=\"http:\/\/www.centerformedicalprogress.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Center for Medical Progress<\/a> (CMP) has released.<\/p>\n<p>Filmed\u00a0with hidden cameras, they show senior Planned Parenthood officials offering to commit multiple felonies. CMP has released them one by one over a period of weeks, an approach Caplan doesn\u2019t support:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">What is bothering me is the leaking of the tapes one at a time. If you\u2019re concerned about what\u2019s going on, you should release all at once. Leaking them one at a time, that\u2019s politics. This type of water torture is to maximize political impact.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ms. Richards agrees: last week, <a title=\"Planned Parenthood president: Anticipation of more videos is \u2018water torture\u2019\" href=\"\/news\/planned-parenthood-president-anticipation-videos-water-torture\/\" target=\"_blank\">she quoted<\/a> part of Caplan\u2019s statement in a tweet.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Now, I can understand why Planned Parenthood\u2019s boss would be upset; the footage <i>is<\/i> pretty damning. But it\u2019s absurd to compare how these videos have been released to any kind of torture. I\u2019m sure Richards understands that. After all, she must know what examples of real torture look like.<\/p>\n<p>They happen in her clinics all the time.<\/p>\n<p>Medical research\u00a0suggests that a baby\u00a0can <a title=\"Small survivors: How the disputed science of fetal pain is reshaping abortion law\" href=\"http:\/\/national.deseretnews.com\/article\/216\/small-survivors-how-the-disputed-science-of-fetal-pain-is-reshaping-abortion-law.html\" target=\"_blank\">feel pain<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0twenty weeks into pregnancy. That&#8217;s troubling when you consider\u00a0how at twenty weeks, an abortion involves getting pulled\u00a0apart <a title=\"Abortionist: it\u2019s too hard to dismember a baby after 20 weeks\" href=\"http:\/\/clinicquotes.com\/abortionist-its-too-hard-to-dismember-a-baby-after-20-weeks\/\" target=\"_blank\">piece by piece<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-40399\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/DE.jpg\" alt=\"D&amp;E\" width=\"653\" height=\"475\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/DE.jpg 653w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/DE-300x218.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 653px) 100vw, 653px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Well, most people would find it troubling. For staff at Planned Parenthood\u2019s Gulf Coast affiliate, it\u2019s just something to <a title=\"Planned Parenthood staff laughs about dead babies; still want to give them your money?\" href=\"\/news\/planned-parenthood-staff-caught-laughing-dead-babies-still-want-give-money\/\" target=\"_blank\">chuckle about<\/a>, as you can see in the fifth video from CMP.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/egGUEvY7CEg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Filmed at Planned Parenthood of the Gulf Coast\u2019s abortion facility in Texas, it features two people claiming to be fetal tissue purchasers. At the\u00a09:42 time stamp, one of them asks if there are any \u201cfresh specimens\u201d he can look at.<\/p>\n<p>Staff members laugh and explain that \u201cit&#8217;s been a\u00a0long day,\u201d so the severed body parts are \u201call mixed up together in a bag.\u201d\u00a0Still, they manage to find him a twenty week-old child who&#8217;d been aborted earlier that day. \u201cIt was a twin,\u201d one of them matter-of-factly notes.<\/p>\n<p>This attitude is on display in CMP\u2019s other videos as well. In <a title=\"Planned Parenthood director caught on tape selling aborted \u2018baby parts\u2019\" href=\"\/news\/breaking-planned-parenthood-director-caught-on-tape-selling-aborted-baby-parts\/\" target=\"_blank\">the first one<\/a>, Planned Parenthood\u2019s senior director of medical services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, explains how she can abort a child and still harvest\u00a0his or her\u00a0organs:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">We\u2019ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I\u2019m not gonna crush that part, I\u2019m gonna basically crush below, I\u2019m gonna crush above, and I\u2019m gonna see if I can get it all intact.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As you\u2019re reading this, keep in mind that Dr. Nucatola performs abortions at up to <em>twenty four weeks<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Planned Parenthood doesn\u2019t just\u00a0torment those\u00a0in the womb; victims of sexual violence suffer there too. Denise Fairbanks did. She was brought to a Planned Parenthood clinic by her abusive father after he got her pregnant. Fairbanks would later describe in <a title=\"RESOLVED: Fairbanks v. Planned Parenthood\" href=\"http:\/\/lldf.org\/resolved-fairbanks-v-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\">a lawsuit<\/a> how she explicitly told clinic staff that\u00a0her father had raped her. Instead of contacting authorities, they responded by performing an abortion and sending her home. With the evidence gone, her father\u2019s abuse continued.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/archive.lifenews.com\/state3469.html\">Gary Cross&#8217;<\/a>\u00a0 thirteen year-old stepdaughter had a similar experience. So did <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2014\/jul\/11\/denver-lawsuit-accuses-abortion-clinic-not-reporti\/?page=all\">Timothy Smith\u2019s<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/news\/local\/connecticut\/articles\/2007\/08\/02\/charges_added_in_alleged_abduction\/?camp=pm\">Adam Gault<\/a>\u00a0and <a title=\"Ohio Planned Parenthood Abortion Center Sued Over Incest Case Coverup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2007\/05\/10\/state-2279\/\" target=\"_blank\">John Blanks, Jr.<\/a> also brought their victims in for coverup abortions. Accused serial rapist <a title=\"Kost back in court for more abuse allegations\" href=\"http:\/\/www.trivalleycentral.com\/casa_grande_dispatch\/area_news\/kost-back-in-court-for-more-abuse-allegations\/article_5a7df3c6-2486-11e4-85aa-001a4bcf887a.html\" target=\"_blank\">Tyler Kost<\/a> evidently got a hand from Planned Parenthood without even knowing it. One of his alleged victims\u00a0said that when she went to Planned Parenthood, she was told that reporting her rape would involve too much paperwork. Law enforcement officials have\u00a0indicated that\u00a0an investigation could have started<a href=\"http:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/local\/pinal\/2014\/05\/08\/pinal-deputies-allege-planned-parenthood-report-assault\/8837543\/\"> months earlier<\/a> if the report had been filed.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m going to take a guess and say that most Americans really aren\u2019t fans of torture. Unfortunately, they\u2019re still subsidizing it. Every year, Planned Parenthood receives over <a title=\"Planned Parenthood receives record amount of taxpayer support\" href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2013\/01\/08\/planned-parenthood-receives-record-amount-taxpayer-support\/\" target=\"_blank\">half a billion<\/a> dollars in taxpayer funding. While pro-lifer senators <a title=\"Abortion lobby stands in the way of more funding for health centers\" href=\"\/news\/abortion-lobby-stands-in-way-more-funding-health-centers\/\" target=\"_blank\">tried to change<\/a> that this month, Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) and all but two Senate Democrats stood in the way. Further, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest <a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/healthcare\/249936-white-house-threatens-to-veto-bill-blocking-planned-parenthoods-funding\">has promised<\/a> that any move to defund Planned Parenthood \u201cwould draw a presidential veto.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Live Action has created a petition asking Congress to end the relationship with Planned Parenthood.\u00a0It&#8217;s available\u00a0<a title=\"Planned Parenthood Exposed\" href=\"http:\/\/plannedparenthoodexposed.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, along with additional proof of the group\u2019s wrongdoing.
