In the wake of The Center for Medical Progress’s release<\/a>\u00a0on July 14 of a video (1.94 MILLION views<\/a> and counting), which\u00a0implicates Planned Parenthood Federation of America and its affiliates of committing several illegal activities, announcements of investigations by state and federal officials have\u00a0exploded off the map.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The video shows\u00a0Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Senior Medical Director Deborah Nucatola\u00a0describing how she and other abortionists break the law several ways on their illegal quest to retrieve lucrative baby body parts.<\/p>\n

What made\u00a0Nucatola’s\u00a0disclosures so shocking to sensibilities of the average citizen (noted even by the Washington Post<\/a>) was the way she\u00a0casually described manipulating babies during the abortion process and applying forceps in such a way as to avoid crushing lucrative\u00a0organs, all while munching\u00a0on a salad and sipping wine.<\/p>\n

In just two short days governors in Georgia<\/a>,\u00a0Indiana<\/a>, Louisiana<\/a>,\u00a0Ohio<\/a>, and\u00a0Texas<\/a>\u00a0have all announced probes.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, both Speaker John Boehner<\/a> and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy<\/a>, along with\u00a0heads of\u00a0two House committees, the\u00a0Energy and Commerce Committee and House Judiciary Committee, announced congressional investigations.<\/p>\n

The Senate Judiciary Committee\u00a0similarly announced\u00a0“it had written to Planned Parenthood and to the Justice Department, asking the agency about its enforcement of some anti-abortion laws,” quoting the AP<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Judiciary Committee member Senator Ted Cruz, also a Republican presidential candidate, promised<\/a>\u00a0an investigation of his own as head of the\u00a0Justice subcommittee if an investigation by the Judiciary Committee didn’t happen.<\/p>\n

In 2011, Rep. Cliff Stearns of the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations for the Energy and Commerce Committee launched an investigation<\/a> of Planned Parenthood for\u00a0improper billing of\u00a0federal funds.<\/p>\n

While that investigation is still open, it has languished due to Stearns’ defeat in 2012<\/a>, after which time no one earnestly picking up the ball to get tough with Planned Parenthood’s stonewalling.<\/p>\n

Lots of public officials in various capacities\u00a0are now picking up the ball.<\/p>\n

Now the game has suddenly morphed into dodge ball.<\/p>\n
