She chose People Concerned for the Unborn Child, but the union rejected her choice on the grounds that, because it opposes abortion, it does not endorse every pregnancy option. PSEA has now held Misja\u2019s money, $2,000, in an escrow account in her name for over three years.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to David Osborne of the Fairness Center, which has taken up Misja\u2019s case, \u201cPennsylvania law allows Linda, a bona fide religious objector to unionism, to donate the equivalent of her union\u2019s \u2018fair share\u2019 fee to a non-religious charity agreed upon by her and the union,\u201d and PSEA\u2019s refusal to honor her choice and instead hold her dues constitute \u201ca violation of her First Amendment right to free speech.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlain and simple, it is my money that I worked hard for,\u201d Misja said. \u201cIt\u2019s been a worry for me that my money might be going to support causes that go against my deep personal beliefs. I was quite shocked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The National Education Association, under which PSEA operates, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2014\/07\/01\/pro-lifers-to-protest-national-education-associations-support-for-abortion\/\">officially endorses<\/a> abortion as \u201cthe right to reproductive freedom,\u201d and its political action committee <a href=\"http:\/\/studentsforlife.org\/tiller\/nealetter\/\">donates<\/a> to pro-abortion advocacy groups such as Emily\u2019s List.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pennsylvania language teacher Linda Misja is suing the Pennsylvania State Education Association for refusing to let her donate her dues to a pro-life charity, Life News reports.
