But after a June 25 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ohiosenate.gov\/senate\/obhof\/press\/senate-passes-state-budget-lowering-taxes-and-investing-in-education\">conference committee vote<\/a>, the Toledo Blade <a href=\"https:\/\/insurancenewsnet.com\/oarticle\/2015\/06\/26\/ohio-house-sends-71-2-billion-budget-to-kasich.html\">reports<\/a> that the bill has passed the House 61-34 and will head to Governor John Kasich\u2019s desk with the provision fully intact.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Abortion defenders oppose the measure on the grounds that Capitol Care Clinic, the last abortion facility in Toledo, is fifty miles away from the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor and its closure would render the city effectively abortion-free.<\/p>\n<p>In response, pro-lifers assert that abortion complications are a common enough occurrence to necessitate the regulations. Live Action\u2019s <a href=\"\/news\/ohio-senate-cuts-abortion-clinic-regulation-just-budget-vote\/\">previous report<\/a> on the Ohio budget quoted a prominent OB\/GYN as seeing abortion complications \u201cweekly\u201d and a former abortion clinic director hiding complications by taking women to hospitals by car instead of ambulance. A 2002 Salon article <a href=\"\/news\/writer-for-salon-magazine-describes-abortions-she-witnessed\/\">quotes<\/a> an abortionist as saying, \u201cThere are only two kinds of doctors who have never perforated a uterus: those that lie and those who don\u2019t do abortions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Ohio, governors possess a line-item veto, which critics are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cleveland.com\/opinion\/index.ssf\/2015\/06\/ohio_gov_john_kasich_must_wiel.html\">demanding<\/a> John Kasich use to strike the abortion provisions.
